No I am not in full screen mode.
I have just gone to the Finder view menu and the only element showing was the
Tool bar. The sidebar and status bar and tab bar are all set to be hidden. I
also have column view enabled. I also checked that I was not in full screen mode

I then open computer with with command shift c, the home folder with command
shift H and the the application folder with command shift A. When I then
checked Window Chooser only the application window was open and the computer
and home windows had been closed..

App Store Update

2014-09-29 Thread Martin G. McCormick
After upgrading to IOS8, my one remaining drudgery task
is the update to the app store. The drudgery part is that
36-page legal masterpiece that one must agree to in order to
make the update happen so life can go on and the Earth won't get
stuck on it's axis causing the ocean to boil.

There are 36 pages in the agreement and I am not sure if
you must click agree on each one or what. There are the same
buttons for each page. There is Cancel, then the text,
a link to send the agreement by email, Previous page, Next page
and then the Agree button
The design is clever in that you can not just tap next
page 36 times and you're done. You must alternate between the
text and the next page button to see the next page.
The strange part was when I got to Page 36 of 36 and
read it. I am not sure what one is supposed to do next because
nothing changes. You are at the end of the agreement and there
are the same buttons. Clicking Agree does nothing except you
hear it echoed by the iPad's voice.
It's like, What next? There are no complaints or errors but you
can't seem to go forward.
I tested the send agreement by email link and that
worked just fine so those of you who have already done this, how
do you get to the next step? Thanks.

There are 36 pages in the agreement and I am not sure if
you must click agree on each one or what. There are the same

a link to send the agreement by email, Previous page, Next page

The design is clever in that you can not just tap next

text and the next page button to see the next page.
The strange part was when I got to Page 36 of 36 and

nothing changes. You are at the end of the agreement and there
are the same buttons. Clicking Agree does nothing except you
hear it echoed by the iPad's voice.
It's like, What next? There are no complaints or errors but you

I tested the send agreement by email link and that
worked just fine so those of you who have already done this, how
do you get to the next step? Thanks.

OK I have tried changingto list view and it makes no difference. Every time
I open a Finder window it closes any other Finder Window with the exception of
any windows specifically created with the open in new window command.
Clearly you are expected to work with Tabs now. I In an earlier version of

I guess I have to go back and re-enable open in tabs and see if I can learn to
find nan equivalent to window - chooser , perhaps tab chooser? functionality

Re: mavericks folder attributes

2014-09-29 Thread Bryan Jones
Hello David,

I think I understand now what you are saying. You are expecting a new Finder
window to open when you press one of the “go to folder…” hotkey combos. Is that
correct? Is that how it behaved for you prior to Mavericks? If yes, do you
recall if there was a toggle in Finder Prefs prior to Mavericks that switched
between opening folders in a new window or opening them in the current window?
If there was, I must have always set it to open in the current window as that
is the behavior I seem to unconsciously expect, but I can certainly understand
being frustrated if the other option was taken away in Mavericks.

My memory is not the greatest, but I think I’ve always used the “go to folder…”
hotkeys to change the folder in the current window, which is the way it is
working for me under Mavericks. For example, if I start out by closing all
Finder windows leaving the Finder showing just the Desktop, and then follow the
steps you listed in your previous email, I get the following results:
1. GO to the Computer folder with command shift c. This opens a new Finder
window focussed on “Bryan’s Macbook Air,” aka the Computer.
2. Press command shift H to go to the Home folder. This changes the focus in
the current Finder window from Computer to Home.
3. Press command shift A to go to the Applications folder. This changes the
focus in the current Finder window from Home to Applications.

Note that on my system this process does not close any windows, it only changes
the selected folder within the current window. If I’ve opened multiple Finder
windows with the Command+N hotkey as I normally do, pressing a “go to folder”
hotkey in any of those only changes the folder in that particular window and
neither closes nor changes the other open Finder windows.

HTH,
Bryan
