Good work around.
Looking at traffic on another list it appears that Apple have removed the reply
to Sender from list emails feature which is a little puzzling.

 Hi!

There are times when I may wish to reply to someone privately off list, how
does one go about doing that?

I remember moving the mosque to the senders eMail address field in the
headers section of the eMail, holding down the ctrl key whilst I click the
mouse and then a menu would pop up with a “Copy Address” option which would
copy the senders eMail address to the Clipboard, I could then use command-r
to reply to the eMail replacing the list eMail address with the senders.

Either this option doesn’t seem to work any longer or my memory isn’t as
good as it once was - most likely the latter smile. - so if anyone has any
tips then they would be very much appreciated.

Re: [Mac-access]: Private Replies To eMail

2014-10-30 Thread Sarah k Alawami
Actually it depends on the list config. I have it so that no email addresses
from the person show up as they are scrambled to prevent spammers. So in my
case and the way I run things there is no way to do this. The email will show
up in the hader but it will look like something out of someone sitting on their
key board. So in my case the fwd command will not work.

Re: [Mac-access]: Right command and option keys not functioning?

2014-10-30 Thread Henry Miller

Hi David

Many thanks for your set of investigative instructions.

If I press the right command key and right option key plus F within Safari I
go to the Google search page. However, if I press the right command key
plus the right shift key plus the letter A for the applications window there
is just a clicking sound. If I press the left command and left option keys
and the letter A the applications menu is presented.

When I turn keyboard help on all the keys are spoken by VO, and I don't have
boot camp on my machine.

I do not know how to reboot. Although I have a blue tooth keyboard, I don't
know how to set up an external keyboard.

best wishes

Henry

Re: [Mac-access]: Macscan

2014-10-30 Thread Colin Matthews
Hi!
Ok I’ve got 2.9.4 but have had Mac scan for ages and just updated within the
app!
I went to the web site and also can only see one download option for 2.9.4!
Hit the download by mistake but sure enough ended up with a disc image
installer for Mac scan in my downloads folder!
Is that what you’ve got and could not install it!

Hi Henry,
If you don't want to use the keyboard commander, then it should be unchecked.
And I think in that case it doesn't matter if you have option keys checked or
not since keyboard commander wouldn't be working. But I could be wrong. You
could experiment and uncheck the option keys and see if that makes a
difference, but I think it won't. Sorry I can't be of more help.

[Mac-access]: Still got this weird Braille onscreen issue

2014-10-30 Thread Andy Collins
Hi all -

This seems to be a very visual thing, as VO doesn’t report anything, but to
those with eyes, there is what is perhaps a window on the screen that is
displaying Braille dots, such as folder names. I haven’t got a Braille display
connected now, and have been having a few sluggish experiences especially in
Safari recently, that seems to coincide with this issue occurring. Any ideas
where I could look to prevent this Braille window from showing onscreen? I’ve
looked under the Braille tab in VO, and there isn’t much in there, certainly
nothing that looks like it could be the cause of the problem. Anybody any ideas
then please? -

Re: [Mac-access]: Right command and option keys not functioning?

2014-10-30 Thread David Griffith
I have right option key checked in Keyboard commander and it has no impact on
the normal operation of other commands like command shift A on
 On my iMac.

 Hi Henry,
If you don't want to use the keyboard commander, then it should be unchecked.
And I think in that case it doesn't matter if you have option keys checked or
not since keyboard commander wouldn't be working. But I could be wrong. You
could experiment and uncheck the option keys and see if that makes a
difference, but I think it won't. Sorry I can't be of more help.

 Many thanks for your reply.

Please could you explain what items should be checked or unchecked in the
 keyboard commander?

Do you perhaps have keyboard commander enabled? It's in the voiceover
utility. And by default I believe it uses the right option key. Mike that
mess up the VO keys on the right side?

 Hi David

Many thanks for your set of investigative instructions.

If I press the right command key and right option key plus F within Safari
 I
go to the Google search page. However, if I press the right command key
plus the right shift key plus the letter A for the applications window
 there
is just a clicking sound. If I press the left command and left option
 keys
and the letter A the applications menu is presented.

When I turn keyboard help on all the keys are spoken by VO, and I don't
 have
 boot camp on my machine.

I do not know how to reboot. Although I have a blue tooth keyboard, I
 don't
know how to set up an external keyboard.

 best wishes

 A few investigative steps.
 Have you rebooted
Have you an external keyboard to try and see if the problem persists
 even
 with that
Have you tried turning on keyboard help to see if there is any response
 from
 these keys?
Do you have boot camp and tried booting into Windows. ditto with Fusion
If the key problem persists under Windows or disappears with an external
keyboard it may be a hardware problem

2014-10-30 Thread Lewis Crack
Hi Andy,

Have you tried to uncheck the checkbox that says Braille Follows
Active under the Braille Options? I believe there is another one
called Active Follows Braille. Try unchecking that too.
I am not entirely sure if it's under Braille or Navigation Settings in
VO Utility.
Regards.
Lewis.

Re: [Mac-access]: Finally done the upgrade.

2014-10-30 Thread christopher hallsworth
Yeah, Yosemite is great! There are lags here but nothing show stopping for me
at least. This is on a late 2011 Macbook Pro. I tried iBooks and my only
comment so far is it's good to see it finally be accessible. Continuity
regarding SMS at least are working. So yes, so far so good at my end.

Well after thinking about it for a while despite things i’ve heard about bugs
and stuff in the new update I decided to go ahead and update my mac anyway.
So far from what i’ve observed it seems a lot more stable although there is a
very slight lag with voice over when I am typing. it does not seem to be able
to keep up with mee for example I have my voice over set to just words
however when I press the space bar to start typing my next word it has around
a tenth of a second delay before telling me the word I am typing. However
this is not a bad thing as it gives me the chance to know if i’ve made any
mistakes before going on to type the next word making it easier to correct
things along the way. I am very impressed with the accessibility of iBooks
now and have to say they’ve done good work on making that accessible. The
only thing I don’t like about it is you can’t do your vo and a like you would
to read a document for it to read the whole book. You’ve got to press the
next page button when it’s finished reading the current page. I have not
really explored any more of the features of the OS yet but will give more
feedback as I do. So far though I am pretty impressed.
