[Mac-access]: Very perplexed about MS Word and OSX

2014-12-28 Thread Ben J. Bloomgren
Hello all,

A friend of mine had downloaded Microsoft Word for OSX. he thought that he had
read somewhere that MS had released an accessible version for the Mac. Office
has been inaccessible on the Mac for some time now, so he was looking forward
to trying it out.

What's the status on this? I saw on AppleVis an article from July of this year
stating that it still wasn't fixed. I understand that he uses Pages. It works
flawlessly. But why should we not try to get to the bottom of this issue with
Office itself?

Belated merry Christmas,

Ben

Re: [Mac-access]: spell checking key short cut

2014-12-28 Thread John Panarese
Command-semi-colon is the highlight next misspelled word and
command-shift-semi-colon starts the universal spellchecker. If you are on a
misspelled word and are navigating through the word by characters, you can
choose suggestions from the floating window when you hear the bubble popping
sound. Press the down arrow and then the right or left arrows to review the
suggestions. Enter will choose the suggestion and escape will close the window.

Re: [Mac-access]: Question about movies from the itunes store

2014-12-28 Thread Bryan Jones
I can try to answer a few of your questions. My responses are based on results
from the US iTunes store accessed through iTunes 12.0.1 running under MacOS
10.9.5. YMMV.

If a movie is available both for rent and for purchase, VO will speak the first
2 Form Control items as "price, purchase, title,” and “price, rent, title.”
For example, if I navigate to the movie titled “Best in Show” and then open the
web rotor and go to the list of form controls, the first 2 items announce
“$9.99, Purchase, Best in Show,” and “$2.99, Rent, Best in Show.” If a movie is
available only for purchase, I only hear the purchase option. For your example
of “The Imitation Game,” I hear “$19.99, Pre-Order, The Imitation Game.”

Regarding the meaning of “pre-order,” I googled itunes.com what is pre-order
and the first result was the following Apple KB article.
http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202723

Regarding streaming of audio described movies: I am pretty sure there are
currently no sources for legally renting and streaming movies with bundled
audio description tracks here in the US. FWIW, there are a handful of audio
described movies for purchase and download in the US iTunes store. These all
seem to be Disney titles, and can be found by searching for “DVS." For example,
here is a link to purchase the audio described version of the movie titled
“Up!” in the US iTunes store.

Re: [Mac-access]: Question about movies from the itunes store

2014-12-28 Thread christopher hallsworth
I can't really answer this, except to say I didn't think any movies at all at
least in the U.K. are audio described. I'm willing to stand corrected though.
As much as I like watching them on good old DVD, it would be nice to watch them
from places like the iTunes Store.
