 Greetings All,

I’m interested to hear from anyone who is successfully using any sort of
VO-accessible alternative to the standard MacOS Clipboard. In particular,
I am interested in one specific feature: the ability to use the “Copy last
phrase to clipboard” command (VO+Shift+C) to copy multiple consecutive or
non-consecutive items to the clipboard without overwriting the previous
item. I am a frequent User of this particular VO command, and there have
been many times when I’ve thought I could increase my productivity and
decrease the number of redundant keystrokes by simply being able to invoke
this command repeatedly and have the content copy itself into some sort of
non-volatile version of the built-in clipboard for future retrieval.

I came across another example this morning where I thought about how
useful this ability would be. I have received a number of emails from
students who are requesting that I help contact publishers to request
accessible versions of textbooks. These emails usually include lists of
the book titles with edition, author, publisher and ISBN. Usually, I only
need the ISBN, so I will go through each email, find each ISBN, use the VO
“Copy last phrase to clipboard” command to copy the number, use the
standard Command+V to paste the item into a spreadsheet, return to the
email, and repeat the process for each ISBN in each email. I’d really like
to just copy the first item to the clipboard, navigate to the next ISBN,
copy it to the clipboard without having it overwrite the first instance,
and repeat this process for all ISBN numbers, then go to the clipboard or
to the destination document and paste the entire list.

 Thoughts appreciated,
 Bryan

Re: [Mac-access]: Seeking suggestions for a more powerful OS X clipboard

2015-01-10 Thread Sarah k Alawami
I believe that's where I read about the app, through that blog you mentioned,
but it's been about 2 years since I had the app so a lot might have changed.

I'd say give it a try and see if you like it. I might give the other one a
try,but for now I'm using text expander to do all of my work which is not a
clipboard replacement by any means.

Take care and be blessed.

2015-01-10 Thread Esther
Hi Bryan and Others,

Sarah's suggestion of Clip Menu can be found at macupdate.com:
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/29988/clipmenu

The developer's web page URL for the app is:
http://www.clipmenu.com/

Note that there is a rip-off version of this open source and freeware app in
the Mac App Store. According to the blog, there is also now an alpha version
under testing for Yosemite.

Just for your information, this old blog post describes a lawyer's use of Clip
Menu for precisely the sort of form letter templates you described in your
original post:

https://lawyerist.com/34273/mac-save-time-clip-menu/

Cheers,

Esther

Re: [Mac-access]: Seeking suggestions for a more powerful OS X clipboard

2015-01-09 Thread David Griffith
Well I have just tried it out out as an experiment. After an installed
it appears perfectly usable with Voiceover.
I went to an email and copied various text from an email text using Shift VO
C..
I then went to Menu extra and copy clip. I then hit VIO space to open up the
menu.
I was then able to cursor down and see all the text clippings I had made to the
clipboard.

I found that by pressing vo space on each lipping I was then able to reproduce
all the various elements of text that I had copied from email into Text Edit
using the normal command V command.
I could not initially see how to paste all the
clippings at once but I only had a brief look. It is certainly possible to
reproduce a list of clippings. It appears that it also possible to use command
1, command 2 etc to paste clippings directly you have made but I did not try
this out. . The only slightly clunky feature is that if you then hit the clear
clippings menu option there is a window which you have to find with window
chooser which enables you to confirm that you really want to clear all
clippings.

I am not sure how much I will use it but it appears good fore a free app.

Hi!
I have not needed to use one of these but had a look at some [but not
downloaded] here’s one that sounds interesting and is free but no idea how VO
friendly it might be but does use shortcuts!
Here’s the website to have a look at!

And here’s the App store link!

[Mac-access]: Seeking suggestions for a more powerful OS X clipboard

2015-01-09 Thread Bryan Jones
Greetings All,

I’m interested to hear from anyone who is successfully using any sort of
VO-accessible alternative to the standard MacOS Clipboard. In particular, I am
interested in one specific feature: the ability to use the “Copy last phrase to
clipboard” command (VO+Shift+C) to copy multiple consecutive or non-consecutive
items to the clipboard without overwriting the previous item. I am a frequent
User of this particular VO command, and there have been many times when I’ve
thought I could increase my productivity and decrease the number of redundant
keystrokes by simply being able to invoke this command repeatedly and have the
content copy itself into some sort of non-volatile version of the built-in
clipboard for future retrieval.

I came across another example this morning where I thought about how useful
this ability would be. I have received a number of emails from students who are
requesting that I help contact publishers to request accessible versions of
textbooks. These emails usually include lists of the book titles with edition,
author, publisher and ISBN. Usually, I only need the ISBN, so I will go through
each email, find each ISBN, use the VO “Copy last phrase to clipboard” command
to copy the number, use the standard Command+V to paste the item into a
spreadsheet, return to the email, and repeat the process for each ISBN in each
email. I’d really like to just copy the first item to the clipboard, navigate
to the next ISBN, copy it to the clipboard without having it overwrite the
first instance, and repeat this process for all ISBN numbers, then go to the
clipboard or to the destination document and paste the entire list.

Thoughts appreciated,
Bryan
