Re: problem with VO saying bizzy and reddy all the time when using certon programs
hello, thanks for getting back to me on this. what speech settings should i play with to make VO stop saying these mesages when a program like fine reader is running? thanks Michael -Original Message- From: mac-access-boun...@mac-access.net [mailto:mac-access-boun...@mac-access.net] On Behalf Of David Griffith Sent: Thursday, 23 May 2013 11:09 PM To: Mac OSX iOS Accessibility Subject: Re: problem with VO saying bizzy and reddy all the time when using certon programs The only suggestion I can make is that you experiment with settings in Voiceover with Fine reader in focus that result in these messages not being announced. If necessary you can mute speech. Once you have found the settings that suit you create an activity setting in Voiceover Utility which replicates these settings. Activities are the way \Voiceover allows application specific settings. If you do need to turn speech off in Fine reader you will want a an easy way to turn speech back on. If you are happy with Track Pad commander you can do this easily but personally i set up a keyboard shortcut in keyboard commander which toggles speech on and off. i use the right option key and A for this purpose. This reminds me that now i have reset Voiceover I must go back and reset all my Activities and keyboard shortcuts. Re: problem with VO saying bizzy and reddy all the time when using certon programs
Hi Michael, I experience the same issue with ABBYY FineReader Express. I suspect FineReader uses lots of CPU cycles while performing it's OCR processes. In fact, FineReader is one of the few apps guaranteed to exercise the cooling fan on my 2011 Macbook Air, which rarely breaks a sweat under normal circumstances with it's 1.8ghz i7 CPU.. I haven't found any tweaks that fix this particular issue, so when I know I'll be OCR'ing anything larger than a page or two, I will plan ahead and kick off the OCR process during a time when I don't need to use the computer for any other tasks. I suppose I have a dinosaur computer then, I still have the one that has the hard drive. That will happen with me with iTunes sometimes and it will eventually resolve itself but sometimes it won't so I'll have to quit and relaunch it.
