Re: Turning pages kindle app

2013-05-11 Thread Steve Holmes
I have an iPad Mini here and have not experienced any delays with page
turning, whether automatic or manually with 3-finger swipes. I have
had some other issues with continuous reading but if I force into
landscape mode, then continuous reading works fine for me.

Only issues I have right now over all is no matter what I do with
brightness settings or any of that, I cannot flick between menu
choices when I first come out of a book. Once I explore and touch the
home menu item, I can then double tap and then flicking through menu
choices returns. This also seems to vary from person to person too
from what I've heard so far. I don't have an iPhone to compare with
but it might be interesting to play with my iPod touch and see how it
behaves over there.

Actually before the kindle was not accessible at all. the hardware thing had
voice reading turned off by choice of the writer's and publishers guild. Also,
there ios app before was not accessible at all. All you saw was the title of
the book. I have a podcast of a podcast that was done 2 years ago when kindle
was first out. or maybe it was a year and half and the person could not even
remotely use the app. as there was nothing to use. and more and more colleges
are switching to kindle for their text books so students can take notes in the
margins and keep the books and stuff. So in a way amazon has no choice but to
make their hardware and software accessible if students are to succeed in the
class room. especially since some times a digital copy is all you have. Now
let's hope if the kindle has a mac version it can and will one day become
accessible.

Take care all.

Hi,
Yes, you can. I have just tested the feature, and it works very well indeed.
You can write notes, and later go to them easily. The one thing it doesn't seem
to do is to announce notes as you read continuously, which could probably get a
little jarring.
HOpe this helps,

Re: Turning pages kindle app

2013-05-02 Thread Mary Otten
I have the original iPad, and I do notice more of a gap between pages in the
Kindle app than with the iBooks or Nook apps, but it isn't anything like 6
seconds. I don't notice this on my 4S, making me wonder if the issue is
processor or ram dependent. Maybe somebody with a newer iPad, i.e. the 3 or 4,
will comment on this.

As has been pointed out, pages are turnable. It is an experience very much like
iBooks. I'm not sure speculation on why they did this is very fruitful, let's
just appreciate the fact they did.

strategy. We assume neither liability nor responsibility should
 something unpredictable happen.
