I don't think you are getting copies. What you are seeing maybe when you
expands the conversation is just the top of the conversation. What I do is hit
enter and then move through the thread with 1 hand with left and right arrow. I
disabled the preview pain a while ago.

For example: If there is only 2 messages, I hear each message twice.
Is there a setting I need to change? inord to have no copies ?
