Re: Formatting an external hard drive

2014-07-11 Thread Jimmy Podsim
Just a hint here. I have accidentally done the same thing a few times. It
didn’t take me long to learn that when replying on an IOS device, it does not
always place you at the beginning of a message where you would want to type.
What I have started doing is double tapping to find out where the cursor is. I
find that most of the time it’s at the beginning, but every once in a while
it’s at the end. I don’t trust it to be at the start any more.

Just my 2 cents for whatever it’s worth.

God bless our troops and God bless America again.

David, I made a booboo, ok, have you ever made a mistake when writing
 email? I
wrote from my iPhone and somehow the message didn't go where I thought it
 was
 going.
I still stand by what I said, that XFAT is a good solution, for using an
external hd on both Mac and Windows.
Thanks for pointing out that my message was messed up, but did you have to
 be so
 snarky about it?
I seldom write on this list, it is all I can do to keep up with what
 everyone

I think you probably need to stop top quoting in your email replies as I do
not think many will hunt through all the thread to find out what you want to
say. You will see the problem in the copy message below. It took me about 10
minutes to find out what you were trying to suggest which was buried at the
end of the email amongst automated list generated messages. .
The simplest method is to simply delete all the replied thread and then type
your response - people will be able to read what you have to say more easily
 then.

I had a similar problem with XFat, that’s why I suggested MSDos fat. When I
put the drive on my air port extreme, not even my mac would see it. However,
with MSDos fat it does.

I like leaving mine plugged in. It does the big backups at night and the
updates during the day. Works out great. I don’t even notice it’s connected.

whatever. Works great.

When you plug the external drive into your Mac, you should be prompted
if you want to use it as a Time Machine backup. Remember that Time
Machine erases all data from a partition, so if you have data on the
drive, be aware of that fact.

If Time Machine doesn't come up, go into System Preferences and choose,
Time Machine. You will then select, Change Disk, and pick your
external drive from the table. Once you do this, navigate to, Choose
disk, and the process should begin shortly after that.

Re: More E-mail Questions

2014-07-23 Thread Jimmy Podsim
Well, I read messages a little different from most. I press enter on the
messages thread. This on pens the message in another window. Then I do VO e
for edit and arrow down to speech and hit enter on start speaking. This will
read you the message without anything being spoken besides the text. I was
told that there’s a hot key to read like this, but I don’t know it.

Re: Upgrading to Mavericks

2014-07-25 Thread Jimmy Podsim
Firstly, if you have a time machine backup, there is no need to back up
anything. Secondly, you do not have to do a clean install or reinstall to
upgrade. As a matter of fact. When I asked Apple about wanting to do a clean
install, they said that as long as you aren’t having problems, there’s no need.

Should I upgrade to the latest version of ITunes prior to upgrading to

Do I need to back up my current ITunes library and any other files before

In addition, do I have to carry out a clean install prior to upgrading?

the voice had just defaulted to Daniel. My Sighted friend, deleted the new

the associated VO and voice settings-it was a bit of a headache!.

When I now load the Mac Voice over does not load automatically and the first
screen is a log in screen.

Please could you tell me how to ensure VO loads at start up and how can I
have the first screen to show my desk top similar to Mountain Lion without
having to log in using a password?

Hello Henry. For future reference you should be able to hit control
 options
command and your left or right arrow until it says voice. you can then hit
control option command and down arrow until it says the voice you want and
there you go. You can also change a couple other things there too.

Yes I do if you go to the voiceover utility with vo f 8.
Then go to speech with command 3.
Then vo right arrow to the voices tab and then tab to the default voice
popup menu and then press vo space bar to open the menu.
 Alex should be in there.

Re: Turning On Mac - No VO at Screen for Login

2014-08-02 Thread Jimmy Podsim
You can hit command f5 at the log on screen to get speech. There is a setting
somewhere, but I can’t remember where, to allow VO at the log on screen. Mine
comes on automatically there but I don’t remember where I set it to do so.

Please don’t send “I am here’, or “I see you” to the group. We just want

Let’s just say we’ve had a spectacular server crash from which we couldn’t

leave command and it refuses to do so. If I remember from a previous email,
somebody else has already said the same thing. You cannot leave a list were a

We should not have to route the message too drunk to get off of the list. All
that does is fill up your junk folder. I have tried several times to remove
myself using the proper steps. However, it does not work. I do not know who or
where the moderators are, but they should be removing peoples addresses from
the list sent several people have said that the steps to remove themselves are
not working. I have not received email from this list in over six months. I
thought the list had been deleted. Of course, if I wanted to be a pain in the
ass, I could report this group to Google groups. Whomever the moderators are,
simply remove me from this list and I will forget this ever happened.

And just a note, if you report these messages as junk, and a Knouff people do
it, then they will start going into everybody's junk folder.
