Re: Invitation to the MacPorts Meeting in Slovenia from the 13-17th of March 2016
Dear fellow users and developers, We would like to remind you that there are only 10 days left before the MacPorts meeting starts, so that you can start warming up. Preliminary programme is available on the website: https://trac.macports.org/wiki/Meetings/MacPortsMeeting2016 Even if you will not able to join us, please let us know if you have any additional burning issues that you would like us to discuss or work on. If you are still thinking about joining ... you are warmly welcome to join us on a wonderful tour to the heart of MacPorts. See you in Gozd Martuljek, Mojca & Aljaž (If there are any developers that would like to be virtually present at some discussions, please write me a private email with your Skype username, timezone [or rather acceptable timing expressed in UTC], the session[s] you are particularly interested in and the reason to join. I won't promise anything at all, but in case the circumstances would allow, we could potentially host a tiny number of virtual guests.) Invitation to the MacPorts Meeting in Slovenia from the 13-17th of March 2016
Dear MacPorts users and developers, We are happy to announce a MacPorts Meeting taking place in Gozd Martuljek in Slovenia (next to Italy & Austria) between the 13th and 17th of March 2016. (In [an unlikely?] case that a significant number of people fill in the registration form by the end of this week claiming that one week earlier would work better for everyone, we can still shift the meeting. We could also prolong the meeting for one day if there is demand for that.) Information: http://trac.macports.org/wiki/Meetings/MacPortsMeeting2016 Registration form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1bZSY0bHtJPvYNq1gjm8QhkA7EhoBjVqKr_l7RQfGjlQ/viewform (We would like to ask you to register by the end of the year to help us better plan for the meeting. Your registration is confirmed once you send 100 EUR which we will use for place reservation.) A MacPorts meeting would be an excellent opportunity to meet fellow port developers face-to-face, to brainstorm ideas together, agree about priorities of future development, decrease the number of open tickets, put your heads together and finally code (or force someone to code) those hacks that you never had time to or knew how to implement. This should also be an excellent opportunity for anyone who would like to learn more about development of packages/port for the Mac. Or maybe you are a devoted user or a developer of some software package that doesn't have a package on Mac yet and you would like some help? We need your input (and your presence at the meeting) to put together a wonderful program, packed with a mixture of interesting talks, round-table discussions, brainstorming sessions, hacking sessions late in the night next to a fireplace of a tile stove ... possibly while your kids have a snowball fight just outside of the house. The location is suitable for family holidays. Feel free to contact me and Aljaž with any further questions (or keep the questions that are of general interest on the macports-dev mailing list). - If there are any volunteers to help us put a link to the meeting to the most suitable place on our website, we will be grateful for your help.
