build for port OpenSceneGraph returned: command execution failed

But there is a bug in MacPorts where it does not detect when, for example, decompression of a source tarball fails (if for example your bzip2 utility is faulty), and the error message it prints is more cryptic, like no such file or directory. recently upgraded to Lion so never really used this machine for coding. to my surprise all the installed ports are compressed!! sudo port selfupdate port upgrade outdated do not fix anything (although the upgrade is still running). Shall I uninstall macports and start fresh? One advantage of this is sometimes the archive can be downloaded prebuilt instead of always having to be compiled.
