Stacey,

The version doesn't really matter.
I, for example, have selected the latest version of Firefox that's available
and the site is working perfectly with it.

Apple Email campaign to bring back braille support for all!

2012-05-22 Thread Veronica Elsea

Hi everyone!
Many of us from the Hims note takers email list are taking today,
Tuesday as a day to contact Apple, asking them to restore full access
for the Hims braille displays and note takers to IOS devices, which
was broken in the 5.1.1 update. If braille is important to you, we'd
love to have you join us, as the next update could impact your chosen
display or note taker. If you feel inclined to join us, please take a
minute to send an email to: accessibil...@apple.com or fill out the
form at http://www.apple.com/feedback or call the accessibility
support phone line at 877-204-3930. Please also feel free to get your
friends to join us today.

Thanks so much.

Re: Braille and Voiceover on the mac

2012-05-22 Thread Eugenia Firth
Hi Stacey.
The command for muting and unmuting speech is the same, as I know for all the
braille displays. It's spacebar together with the letter m. On every braille
display I've ever heard of, the router keys bring the cursor to where you press
on the router key on the display. A lot of times pressing the router keys will
activate what's under the cursor. Hope this helps, even though I have a
different braille display.

WhatsApp Messenger: iPhone + Android + Nokia + BlackBerry

2012-05-22 Thread Mac Egbert
Hallo,

Interest Lists on Facebook

2012-05-22 Thread Traci
Hey all,

Lately, I've been playing around with Facebook's smart lists, to organize
friends/family/co-workers etc. Today, I discovered there are also Interest
Lists to organize and group fan pages.

Has anyone been able to actually find this interest link on the FB site? I
cannot. Lol!

Apparently, once I find this link, I can subscribe to already created interest
lists, or create my own, by grouping my favorite fan pages. Now, if I could
only find the link.

Thanks,
Traci

From iDisk to SkyDrive

2012-05-22 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

I am cross posting this to both the V iPhone and Mac Visionaries mailing
lists.

With the end of iDisk, Apple's cloud storage system that came into being
during the Mobile Me era, slated for June 30, 2012, I've been searching for
another cloud storage system that works equally well with iOS devices, Macs,
and Windows PCs.

I am delighted to report that Microsoft's SkyDrive is now completely
VoiceOver accessible and allows access to the SkyDrive directly from Finder
in OS X and from Explorer in Windows 7. The iOS app is VoiceOver
accessible, simple, and easy to use.

Microsoft SkyDrive offers 7GB of free storage space, 2GB more than does
Apple's iCloud.

To those who may not know, iCloud, in its current implementation, does not
allow for non-iWork documents and/or non Apple file syncing nor does it
allow for direct access in Windows Explorer. In short, iCloud, unlike
iDisk, is not meant to be used as a remote hard drive to which you may place
any kind of file.

To get SkyDrive on the computer platform of your choice, you will need to
download a free Microsoft utility that simply configures your chosen system
to see SkyDrive; it does not add any overhead to your device unlike other
free cloud storage options.

To get started, visit the app store on your iOS device and type in SkyDrive
or, from your favorite web browser in the OS of your choice, go to
http://skydrive.live.com

If you don't already have a Windows ID, you will need to create one.

Enjoy,

Mark

Re: From iDisk to SkyDrive

2012-05-22 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Mark,

Thanks for this useful info. One minor correction with respect to the storage
capabilities within iCloud. There are definitely ways of storing non-iWork and
non-Apple files within your iCloud storage space. In fact, these files will
also sync to your other iCloud synced MacOS machines. Not perfect nor exactly
the same as iDisk storage but useful just the same.
