Re: Customising favourites bar in Mountain Lion
Hi Iona, I understand from Tim's post that the click happens only on magic trackpad. In my case, I have accomplished the task on a macbook air with touch pad. I had to turn the trackpad commander off with vo+left turn of the rotor and then I would position the mouse with vo+command+f5 on the box I want to remove, confirm my mouse position with vo+f5, and then would press with one finger my trackpad somewhere at the top and while maintaining pressure would slide my finger down. I then would hear a little puff sound as if you were blowing a speck of dust away, and that would confirm to me that the item was removed. Hope this helps. managing voiceover prefferences, suggestions pls
Hello, it seems that I have to do a re-install of 10.8 on my air because of some strange problems and also, with tame-machine, I have still some elements of 10.5 on my machine. To prepare this I was making a backup of different things including my voiceover-preferences. After testing the exported preferences by importing them, I have discovered that the adapted trackpad-commands where exported or imported badly so, I lost them. I have also tried to copy the com.apple.voiceover*.* files out of Library/preferences in my home-folder and restarted voiceover but without success. I have reported this also to accessibility since 10.7 but after 1 year and a major release later, it seems without success. I am glad to hear of you of a solution to export/import the voiceover preferences completely. Hi Emilio. Well, I was hoping that when Mountain lion came out, that the new update of PDF pan pro would work. I just tested it. I can get it to read PDFs just fine, but they haven't fixed the editing part for voice over. I still have it on my computer. Since I had bought it, I just left it there, hoping that one of these days, the developer would fix it. I contacted the developer about it, but so far no luck. Re: Customising favourites bar in Mountain Lion
Thanks Andrew for your response. The only thing I'd add is that the Click is not anything you hear out of your speakers, there is just sort of a click as you press firmly down on the Trackpad so that you know you have the button pressed. Sometimes you'll hear a minor click sound but it's more of a feeling thing. It's the same on the Magic Trackpad as on a laptop Trackpad. Later... Re: Completing PDFs.
Sadly, it is not possible to complete PDF files on iOS or Mac when using a screen reader. It is possible to do it with Adobe Reader if you are not a screen reader user, and when I try to open PDF forms within preview/iBooks, I am informed I need to upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader. One of the new features listed for Mountain Lion was the ability to complete PDF forms, so what happened? It is about time Adobe made Reader accessible for both the Mac and iOS, or Apple should beef up PDF support in iBooks and Preview. The best way to make a PDF accessible is to publish it using HTML 5 and CSS 3. The most accessible PDF is one someone can read, than not being able to read at all. Thank you for taking the time with this, Esther. Unfortunately, I tried those two links in the last week, and the downloads are incomplete or corrupt. I hope this is a temporary problem. I tried another one from a Google search and it was a broken link to the Lexcycle page, which has been down for close to a year. It would be great if it could be put in the Mac App Store. apparently, Amazon bought LexCycle, and then Stanza fell through the cracks. I'm not even sure if it's still being maintained and updated at this point, but I'll continue to use it as long as I can. I happened to find an older copy I'd put in my dropbox folder and I use this. Can I use this program to record my voice as well as the Voice Over from my computer at the same time, or will I have to record them separately and then join them together post production? I hope that I can record both my own voice from my microphone and the system sound at the same time. Does anyone know of any good tutorials for this program? Re: Audio Highjack Pro
Hello, I believe in Audio Hijack Pro, there is an effect for an application mixing. I can't remember what it's called, but it's near the top of the effects menu. So you can just create one session, and add the other applications you need. Re: Safari questions with ML
I see that no-one has so far discussed tables with you. While interacting within a table in HTML content, use the VO-Arrow keys to move around in the table. So to move up and down, hold down the VO keys and use up and down arrows. That should move you down in the same column and not push back to the beginning of the row or any of that. Keep in mind that as you get to the bottom of a column, pressing VO-down arrow will wrap you back to the top row and I think, advances you to the next column. To get out of the table, Just get to the upper left or lower right corner of the table and then use normal VO-left or VO-right to move you on outside the table. For me, tables automatically interact when you land on them. I can't remember if that is always the case, default or if I set an option; sorry. Hope this helps. First, I thought I'd respond to the discussion on tables. The one I encounter is on my bank's web site. I can find the table and VO-right-arrow through each item. When I'm on the first column of a row, the VO-R command also reads the whole row to me. I can't figure out how to bop straight down a column though. But at least the information is all there. And I so appreciate those of you who reported the apparent bug here. I was beginning to think I was losing my mind. I just can't seem to quite figure out where I land and when I need to interact and when I don't. I don't remember having this issue in Lion but granted, I only used it a little bit because I was waiting for Mountain Lion before really getting going on this Macbook. The other thing I've apparently lost track of is how to quickly do a google search. I have figured out that if I open Safari and just stay on the tool bar, I can type a url or a search term. I then VO-right-arrow to the html content area where I interact. But it sure seemed to me that there was a keystroke or something that went easily into that google search. But I just can't find it anywhere. But boy I'd sure love a good tutorial and demo of really using Safari in ML. I did create an activity which turns on Quick Nav when I go into Safari, and I was afraid that this was what was messing up my browsing experience. So I will await further news and see how far I get in the meantime. But thanks so much to all of you who are so on top of all of this stuff. I look forward to doing my part to pay forward. In the meantime, I'm open to all Safari suggestions. Thanks.
