Hi Daniel,

I like Cyberduck though I'd recommend getting it from the developer website
rather than the Appstore as it is a paid-for app in the store whereas you can
choose to donate if you download it from the website.

You can get it from http://cyberduck.ch

Hello,

Does anyone know of any accessible FTP clients? I’m asking for my girlfriend
who needs one relatively soon.
I looked at Filezilla, but apparently that’s inaccessible.
Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

A work around for calendar in IOS 7

2013-09-21 Thread Lisette Wesseling
Hi folks,
In IOS 7, the calendar has lost its list view which means you have to look at
each day where you will see each hour listed, whether it has an appointment or
not. I used the list view before which was very handy.
I've discovered a work around which gives me back this list view and thought I
would share it with others. If you press the search button, all your
appointments are shown in a list again. you do need to cancel out of this, but
it works for me. Better than nothing.

Re: Question about mail in IOS7

2013-09-21 Thread Ricardo Walker
Hi,

This is completely optional.

If you rather not archive, and want to send messages to trash, go to
settings/general/mail, contacts and calendars. Double tap on your gmail then
double tap on your account name. Now, double tap advanced and select to move
messages to the deleted mailbox.

Now archive will be replaced with trash in the Mail app.

The archive option is the one you want. I'm not sure why you didn't see it

saves some battery life. I have closed a lot of the apps in the app
switcher especially all GPS apps. I saw someone mention turning off
background refresh might save battery life. What am I losing by turning
that off, as I thought that was one of the new features that iPhone was
pushing, so by turning off I would like to know what I am disabling. I
assume it means apps will only refresh when I open them, as I have noticed
through out the day I would hear Downcast refresh which I thought was odd,
as I have it set to refresh every 8 hours and usually manually refresh it.
I do have about 200 apps on my phone so if they are constantly trying to
refresh I could see that killing my battery. I have my screen curtain
turned on and screen brightness turned down to 33%.

Also, if anyone got an iPhone 5S can you let us know howe the battery life
is? I plan to get one when the craze dies down, but want to find out if
people are having serious battery issues or any other problems.

 Thanks all

Re: Battery Life on IOS 7

2013-09-21 Thread May and Noah
Wow speaking of battery life since I had a battery issue not long ago that
puzzled me.

Surprisingly after doing the update my phone lasted nearly 50 hours before
dying and needing a charge. I am curious to find out if that was just a ha,
good luck day after the upgrade since I'm letting it do a complete recharge now
since I don't need to go anywhere today it can sit and charge and I'll see if
I'm lucky again.

How do you disable these apps individually?
I see the on and off for this, but when I press on these running apps, it

Hey Ed, Thanks, that will be another option as I did see a bunch in there
that I barely use. For now I am keeping it completely disabled as I imagine
this is an issue that Apple will address in 7.0.1 I just spoke to a sighted
friend on an iPhone 5 and he said his battery life is awful, so at least it
is good to know it is not a voiceover specific problem so I imagine a fix
will come out faster.

Hi Brian,

YOu may want to try and experiment with background refresh. YOu can control
whether individual apps refresh in the background or not. I believe the idea
of this feature is to save you time when opening apps, and the phone will learn
your routines for doing this so that the apps refresh appropriately. However,
it sounds as though some of them may be refreshing more than you want.

Cheers,

Ed

Battery Life on IOS 7

2013-09-21 Thread Brian Fischler
Hey all,

For the most part I really am loving IOS 7. The one thing that is a concern is
the battery life is horrible. I typically made it through almost the entire day
with not really needing to charge my phone. Yesterday, I barely used it and I
had to charge it twice. I am using an iPhone 4S on IOS 7, and know some of you
have some fantastic info, and was hoping someone might be able to compile a
list of checks to use to get the best battery life. I have turned that new
motion option on as I read that saves some battery life. I have closed a lot of
the apps in the app switcher especially all GPS apps. I saw someone mention
turning off background refresh might save battery life. What am I losing by
turning that off, as I thought that was one of the new features that iPhone was
pushing, so by turning off I would like to know what I am disabling. I assume
it means apps will only refresh when I open them, as I have noticed through out
the day I would hear Downcast refresh which I thought was odd, as I have it set
to refresh every 8 hours and usually manually refresh it. I do have about 200
apps on my phone so if they are constantly trying to refresh I could see that
killing my battery. I have my screen curtain turned on and screen brightness
turned down to 33%.

Also, if anyone got an iPhone 5S can you let us know howe the battery life is?
I plan to get one when the craze dies down, but want to find out if people are
having serious battery issues or any other problems.

Thanks all

Re: Option T for time, Apple Script on new MBA

2013-09-21 Thread Cait and Maggie
Hey Kim,
Go into the vo utility and pick the first row in the table, it might be called
general or something like that. this is where you can add a personalized
greeting when the computer is turned on. In this same row is the radio button
for "use apple scripts". Make sure this is checked.

Now go down to the commanders row. Go into that and pick keyboard commander.
Make sure that keyboard commander is selected/turned on. If you look under
this, I think the one for time is under there. If not, there should be an
option for you to create it by pressing the keys you want.

I am doing this from memory, so sorry if some things are jumbled..

Re: following someone in night owl?

2013-09-21 Thread Alex Hall
Apparently, Twitter removed that feature. You must now use Night Owl itself.
Hit cmd-u, type the username, and press enter. Once you are on the list of
tweets from that user, find and interact with the drawer, then open the
"useraction" menu button, arrow down to "following status", right arrow to open
it, and choose follow from the resulting menu. You can now hit cmd-1 to reset
the view back to your normal timeline.

If I understand, it sounds like you have the same situation as I have with my

deleted have a download option is to it, whereas the ones I have on my iPhone
don't. So, I think it is listed in the face of been purchased this past. So
now, I think the question is, is there a setting that you can set where it
doesn't list of things you deleted that are in the cloud?
