Re: My music collection
Hi As for music quality, I agree and it's even good on the phone which is a 4s. Surprising really as I was always put off by the smaller speakers on the phone compared to the tablet which is a Mini 2. On 07/07/2015 02:53, Blee Blat wrote: How did you go about removing the local music without removing it from your library? I'd like to do similar here as music is my largest data chunk and Apple Music has better quality versions of a lot of stuff that I had plus this is obviously more convenient than trying to sync 300 GB of data between devices. I also notice that we seem to have got sound quality improvements in the latest music app on both iOS and OS X unless the ears are deceiving. So as a result I find I'm just as likely to use the phone for music as the computer, it's whatever device is handy for what I'm doing. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Apple Music, A week already?
Hi all Wow, it's a week already since the Apple Music service has been launched and at my end it's been nothing but a success. Sure there are bugs especially with the iCloud Music library, but on the whole it's working extremely well and I can tell Apple and the relevant parties has been working hard to get this up and running as smooth as possible, even on day 1. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Re: Quirky cell behavior in Numbers
Hi Phil, sounds as a bug to me as well even though it didn’t happen to me yet. Might sound to simple but what about • quick nav, is it switched off? • are VO cursor and keyboard cursor combined to one cursor using VO + Shift + F3? • does it happen if you simulate a mouse click using VO + CMD + F5 as well? That’s what came to my mind at first. I’m gonna play a little with Numbers and maybe it shows up here as well. All the best Jürgen Am 07.07.2015 um 16:27 schrieb Phil Halton philh...@gmail.com: Using the latest OS X and Numbers, I have encountered a problem from time to time where I cannot edit certain cells. Normally I enter the formula editor by pressing VO spacebar and that lets me edit the contents of a cell. With certain cells however, VO+spacebar kicks me into the formula editor with the contents of an adjacent cell instead of the one I want to edit. Sometimes if I copy the cell to another area of the sheet, I can then edit it, but not in its original place. I have tried everything including maxing the screen, putting blank columns and rows around the cell in question, and copying the cell to another place on the sheet. Only copying to another location works and allows me to get into the cell with the formula editor. All other attempts put me into another cell, usually the cell to the immediate left of the one I want. Again, it happens with random cells, I often can edit the surrounding cells with no problem, but nothing I do allows me to edit the given cell other than copying it to another location. Of course, in that case, I get references errors in the formula so I can’t rely on that method of editing. It definitely seems like a numbers bug to me, but I am hoping someone has a solution I haven’t thought of. Re: vpn
Hi, Christie, I use the Connect to Server item in the Go menu after I make a VPN connection. Then the volume on the remote network is used like a regular volume on your Mac. You'll need to have a user account that gives you access to the appropriate area on the remote machine. Re: DD on the mac.
Yes, that’s correct; you can’t write the blocks to a mount point. First find the device node. Use “diskutil list” to find the device node (e.g. /dev/disk3) on which your USB stick is located. You can do this by size or using the slice names underneath it (e.g. disk3s1). Then eject the volumes using “diskutil unmountdisk disk3” and now write your ISO using “sudo dd if=file.iso of=/dev/disk3”. Be careful what you’re doing here; if you aren’t you might just clobber an important file system or disk, so make sure you get the right device node. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Re: Apple Music, A week already?
Just a bit weird that Beats Radio doesn't have a catchup service. They take away Zane Lowe - an amazing broadcaster and DJ - from BBC Radio 1, and the only way you can hear him is to listen live. So I'll be sticking with the BBC for new music discovery. I'd probably dip into Beats Radio if qhey had a catchup service, but without it then it seems like an out-dated station from the word go. You are able to access the playlists from the shows, but the whole point of radio is that you get the energy and passion of the presenter/DJ. If I was a presenter I'd rather get paid less by the BBC to have a major platform on which to deliver my performance that people can access for 30 days after broadcast. Anyway, Apple Music seems lime a good service. I'll probaly dip into it for the next three months, but I get 320 KBPS streaming with Spotify, and I have over 8000 tracks added to my Spotify starred playlist, so it will take quite a lot to convince me to move. But I'm glad you're enjoying it Chris, and respect to Apple for the fact that it seems very accessible. DD on the mac.
Hi! I am trying to extract an Iso file containing Vinux onto a usb stick. I want to use the dd command to do that. I think i am doing something wrong when typing: dd if=vinux.iso of=/Volumes/BLANDAT which is the name of the usb stick. The message i get is /Volumes/BLANDAT is a directory. So what am i doing wrong? This use to work great on Linux but now i don’t have one installed so i can’t use it. Any ideas. /A -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Re: Quirky cell behavior in Numbers
I don’t have a solution but I think I might have a work around. 1. If you are entering a formula into a blank cell, instead of typing VO-space, just type an equals sign. 2. If you are entering or editing a formula in a cell which already has some contents, instead of typing VO-space, press option-return. The bug you are encountering sounds odd. Is there any pattern regarding which cells have the problem? Maybe you could send us an example spreadsheet in which you’re encountering the issue. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Looking for a used iPod...
Hi everyone. I'm looking for a second hand iPod as I've got a ton of music and audio books etc and my sixteen gb iPhone isn't cutting it as far as storing offline media is concerned... So, if anybody out there has an iPod they are thinking of selling that is at least thirty gb, please let me know. A video, classic, or touch is fine and I don't mind if it is a bit scratched up etc as long as the hard drive and battery are good to go. Using the latest OS X and Numbers, I have encountered a problem from time to time where I cannot edit certain cells. Thanks for any help. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Re: Warm Battery: I Think It's The Radios
Hi, Thanks for this, I will definitely give it a try. Beats doing a full restore or dealing with hardware problems. :) Cheers, Donna On Jul 7, 2015, at 4:14 AM, Sabahattin Gucukoglu listse...@me.com wrote: Started experiencing the strange phone-warming effect of iOS 8.4. In system prefs, under the sounds option, I chose the Boze speakers as the output for the sound. Now, every time he reboots the mac, we’ve got only faint system sounds, and vo seems to be turned way down. Is anybody else using these speakers successfully? the volume knob that attaches to the speakers is extremely sensitive! You practically only have to breathe on it to change or mute the sounds!
