Re: How about that Watch OS 3.2.3 update?

2017-07-20 Thread lenron brown
I am wanting to buy a series 2 but seriously wondering if a 3 will
come out this year. I want the 42mm with one of the nice metal bands.

I saw something about a series one watch recall. I didn't pay much attention,
but you should probably see if you are eligible for a free servicing.

RE: The macOS 10.12.6 update

2017-07-20 Thread Matthew Dyer
Chris,

Give it some time. I didn't see it lastnight when I looked, but when I woke up
this morning, I had found that the mac os update had installed and all I had to
do was sign into my account and I was all set.

Subject: The macOS 10.12.6 update

Evening everyone.

Has anyone seen this? I am currently updating my own late 2011 Macbook Pro to
the 10.12.6 update, but friend and list member Hannah is showing no updates on
her early 2015 Macbook Pro. Would a full install of Sierra be necessary? Or is
it best to try again in a few days.

Please advise. Thanks.

Re: macOS Sierra

2017-07-20 Thread E.T.
Download the macos sierra installer from the app store. Download an
app called Install Disk Creator and build your USB installer. Or you can
use Terminal to do it but this app makes it painless. Then you boot from
the installer.

Index Embosser, the DV5.

2017-07-20 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hello.

Last year, there was a conversation about embossers that work with Macs.

Yesterday I went to Sight village which is an exhibition held in the UK each
year where companies and other interested parties show off new products and you
can go there and touch the latest technologies which may benefit the visually
impaired community.

Whilst there, I purchased a portable stand alone scanner from Freedom
Scientific called the Eye Pal. I could not believe how small it was, just like
a ten inch TV. Of course it had the in built voice and it didn't matter which
way you put the page in front of it. I was blown away by its compactness.

Then when I got to the Index Embossers, I was told the new DV5 would work on
your Mac and I phone. Wifi and Bluetooth.

The price which I got was out of this world for an Braille embosser.

So I'm looking forward to it now!

Kawal.

Re: How about that Watch OS 3.2.3 update?

2017-07-20 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
Oh, i haven’t used my watch in a year now.
Its a series 1 watch so i might just let it be.
I don’t use the iphone much since i went over to android but we’ll see what
happens.
There still are some issues with android and therefore i might jump back to Ios.

Hi!
You cann use Virtual Box but your best bet is to go Fusion.
I have VirtualBOx here but have not figured out how to add several hardware to

Re: How about that Watch OS 3.2.3 update?

2017-07-20 Thread Scott Davert
I'm not even going to put 4.0 on my original Apple Watch, it will
probably be rediculously slow. I also don't think I'll be getting an
updated watch, this one does what I need well enough. I'm not a
swimmer, so not sure it would be worth it.

RE: Which virtual machine software is accessible?

2017-07-20 Thread David & his pack of dogs
I was talking to a windows user. He brought up a good point. There is a
difference between something being accessible and usable. Usable, they can use
the functions on a computer that they want not necessarily every single feature
on the computer. Accessible, they want to be able to use or, in our case,
access every feature. This was mentioned because I have no problem accessing an
app. Whereas another blind person does. It is an app that tells you gas prices
and where the cheapest gas is, in the town you are in or going too.

This is the case for any virtualization software. There can be issues though

How about that Watch OS 3.2.3 update?

2017-07-20 Thread Scott Granados
Wondering if anyone else found the Watch OS update as good as I did.
The watch seems far more responsive, screen sensitivity seems more predictable
and there’s an over all snap in the platform now when voice over is active.
Big improvement. I’m specifically using a series 2 Steel 42MM watch in this
example.

Thanks

Simon, you're talking about virtual box. That maybe so but I was talking about
VM fusion. Maybe things of changed and later versions of fusion but when I try
to do that it blew out all the licensing including the OS and all of the
software.

Re: How to hover over something

2017-07-20 Thread Phil Halton

In the cited world, to hover means to position the mouse over something. So, I
would imagine that in voiceover you would bring the mouse to the current
VoiceOver position, After first moving VoiceOver to the desired object, with
command vo and F5. This will place the mouse pointer on the same object that
voiceover is located at and essentially "Hover "the mouse there.

+1 on VM fusion. I hear parallels has recently become accessible but no
idea first hand. VM Fusion does everything I need and I’m a heavy user of
 parallelization software.

RE: Which virtual machine software is accessible?

2017-07-20 Thread Simon Fogarty
But you can copy and paste the vm machine files on to another machine and it
works fine.

I've been doing this with virtual box at work, makes life a lot easier to
create one machine and move it to multiple mac machines

Subject: Re: Which virtual machine software is accessible?

Nickus, the short answer is no. The virtual machine is tied to the hardware
signature of the device it was first installed on. This is done to control
licenses etc. I tried running a VM on another machine once and all the licensed
software failed requiring new licensing. This meant a new license for the
operating system as well as for the Jaws synthesizer software. Also office
suite required relicensing. The only way to run a VM on another machine that I
am aware of is through the import process. When first opening the virtual
machine into a new machine, virtual machine will ask if you want to move or
copy the VM. If you select move, all the licensing is transferred over and will
only now work on that new machine. If you select copy you will get just that,
a copy, but it will not run properly on the new machine without relicensing.
Also, don't forget, the VM can grow to in the neighborhood of 30 to 60 GB. And
I don't know if you have that kind of iCloud storage account, but I sure don't.
In fact I have set my Time Machine to exclude that particular virtual machine
folder so as not to clutter up my disk. Instead I simply manually copy the VM
off onto a storage disk

 Hi

The most accessible VM software is vm Fusion but there is a price for it.

If you are only going to use the windows machine only once an a while then
I'd recommend eiter Virtual box which is free but not as VO friendly as
 fusion,

Or install the windows OS into bootcamp and switch between them when you
 need to access windows.

The only problem with bootcamp is that you can only use one os at a time,

With fusion or virtual box you can run the mac os all the time and open
the windows vm when you need it just like an application.

 Hi all
I want to put Windows 10 on my MBP for very occasional use and because I
have a quad core i7 with 16 GB RAM, I think it will be fine if I run a
 virtual machine rather than Bootcamp.

Which virtual machine software is most accessible for use with Voiceover
 and easiest to use?
