itex express

2018-12-22 Thread jean parker
Hello All:

Ever since updating to Mojave, Itex Express will not let me save files in Word.
How can I set it to save in Word, preferably by default? I have looked in the
documentation for this but have found the manual less than helpful.
All ideas welcome.

Yeah I think those are the ones. For me it’s the same as the port the charger
plugs into.

You should be able to find one on Amazon, or on Apple’s site.

Actually I have a new MacBook Pro and it only has USB-C ports, not USB.
You have to get a USB-C to USB adapter in order to get it to work.

Hi Mark.
Nice list. How do you enter shipping information into the Parcel Track
app? I generally just bookmark tracking information which of course does not
offer real time updates but UPS is always the fastest and I just reload the
page. USPS lags a bit but they have the Informed Delivery app/service which
sends emails to the computer with scanned images of mail to be delivered that
day. One can use OCR to read the images after you save them to a folder.

Other apps... Seeing AI which handles about everything. Money, colors,
light, text.

Weather Gods. It is not boring but today it lied to me and we got wet when
it was not supposed to rain. :)

Stocks. It allows me to cuss the powers that be when things go badly. No,
I do not play the markets. ;)

An app I would like to find would be one that scans your lottery ticket
then compares the numbers after each game. But not if the app can track me.

Well, I just tested in Pages on my El Capitan system and
command-shift-A, command-shift-I, command-shift-C, command-shift-O all worked
in the “Move to” dialog and I know I have used them when prompted to save a
file I am closing for the first time.

Let me know if I need to also check with more recent systems. I do have access

Re: Mac harddisk odditie.

2018-12-22 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Sorry, my statement about sort was backwards. Just as an FYI.
sort -n sorts everyone in a file with the assumption that the first word is a
number.
Sort -r would sort largest to smallest or reverse alphabetical order.
There are also option in the sort command to sort using a specific column or
character position, though I haven’t used those options recently. If I am
getting that complex I’ll import to a spreadsheet.

So to recap the du/sort command I listed in my last note would have the largest
file / directory at the bottom of the list. If you know you only want to look
at the last few you could append another pipe with a tail command.

2018-12-22 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
Hi
when I have had issues with disk space and I didn't know where, I always use
the "du" command. Generally using it with the "-s" option. So in the terminal:
du -s *
| sort -n

will produce a sorted list with all items in the current folder with the
largest ones at the top.

Best wishes,

 1. Has the trash been emptied.
 2. Is iCloud using up a bit of that space? If iCloud sync process keeps
files opened then even if they are deleted they will not free up disk
space until all open file systems for the disk are closed. (perhaps
 reboot).
 3. Did you properly modify things in the users panel to indicate that your
home disk is on a separate partition?
 4. You might consider Leaving the home directory where it is, and just
move music / mail or other large file blocks to the external drive.

Not sure if below is possible in MacOS.
 5. If external disk is mounted as /Users and you have a /Users with
content on it on the root disk partition, then none of the files in /Users
on the root disk can be accessed. I say this might not be possible,
because by default MacOS uses the auto mounter to mount USB external
devices under the /Volumes directory. The UNIX mount command can replace
any directory on the root partition with another partition ..
 mount /Users/jcohn/funk /dev/sd01a1
for example would do what you would expect.
But then /jcohn/funk if it has files in it would not be visible.

 Maybe this helps??

Mail clients other than apple mail?

2018-12-22 Thread Daniel McGee
Hello everyone

Am more than happy with Apple Mail on the Mac. Was just curious though, anyone
know of other mail clients on the Mac that is accessible with voiceover.

Like we have safari as well as google crome.

Thanks

 to considder.
Can i check this somewhere in the system prefs?
THe home directory is changed in the system prefs so i won’t try the
suggested mount command as of yet.
 Thanks for your response.
