Mark's Recommendation for a Great iPad Screen Protector

2019-04-26 Thread M. Taylor
Hello All,

Recently, I purchased a 10.5 inch iPad Pro.

Even though the device has a marvelous retina display, I began to regret
touching it primarily because of the fact that it seems to attract dust and
finger-oil particles and smudges more than any other Apple device I've ever
owned. I checked with a buddy of mine, at the Apple Store, and he readily
concurred with my finding.

In short, unlike with my beloved iPhone 8 Plus, with its tempered glass
screen protector onboard, my fingers would not slide smoothly across the
surface of the iPad Pro because of the rapid buildup of dust and oil
particles.

So, after conducting much research, I came across a tempered glass screen
protector for my iPad Pro for a little less than $10.

I have been using it for a couple of days, now, and it is absolutely
fantastic. In fact, I would say that the iPad Pro display is now as
enjoyable to touch as my 8 Plus in that my fingers slide smoothly across the
surface because there is no longer any rapid buildup of dust and oil
particles.

I am going to post a link to the iPad 10.5 Pro product as it is listed on
Amazon but please note that the company does make tempered glass screen
protectors for virtually all of the iPad product lines.

Also note that, while the product is easy to install, I recommend that you
have a sighted person perform the installation. Based on my experience, all
things being equal, including the cleaning of your iPad display,
installation could take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes.

Good Luck and Enjoy,

Mark

PrimePhonic an app for a Classical Music lovers

2019-04-26 Thread Mary Otten
I am basically happy with Apple Music, except when it comes to classical, one
of my favorite genres. I recently read about an app called prime phonic, and I
just downloaded it and signed up for my free 14 day trial.
You don’t have to give them a credit card for the 14 day trial, so if you tried
and don’t like it, you don’t need to do anything. But if you want to keep it,
then you have to subscribe within the 14 day trial time time limit.
I just got it today, and I think there are some Accessibility issues having to
do with whatever shows up on the opening screens, such that you can flip
through and hear nothing from voiceover, but then flip back and hear what the
text is. But the search and browse and tabs etc., those are all accessible. And
they work well. If you are a classical music lover, you should really get this
app and take it for a 14 day free trial. The subscriptions are eight dollars
for the so-called premium subscription, which gives you 320 KBBPS which is the
same as Apple I think. Or $14 a month for lossless streaming of albums that
they have available with that format. If you are willing to pay for a whole
year, you can get a 17% discount off of either service. I think it’s definitely
worth checking into. I have not found a service like Spotify Apple Music etc.,
that is so dedicated for classical listeners. So if you were one of those,
check it out.

Re: chrome settings

2019-04-26 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

To toggle ChromeVox on/off, it's ctrl+cmd+a+a, that's like a double-tap of the
"a" key, not a single press. Similarly for the "o" in the other command.

Re: chrome settings

2019-04-26 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hello Gene,

I assume you are talking about the ChromeVox internal Speech extension. I
haven’t used this on the Macintosh in over a year, and Chrome did change their
VOX on Chrome Books significantly.
What ET mentioned is unless I read it wrong, for the VoiceOver screen reader.
