Re: Bootable Catalina Installer

2019-11-14 Thread Jeff Berwick
Hi Tim,

I knew about that method, but the internet seemed to exclusively recommend a
bootable key.

At any rate, I have followed your instructions and it worked great.

Thanks.

RE: Bootable Catalina Installer

2019-11-14 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Jeff,

If the bootable installer is correctly created then it should show up under sys
prefs start up disks,

If no tthen why not use the recovery console installer option which is simply
to shut down and then hold the r and cmd keys down until it start up
Or as I do hold them for approx. 20 seconds then let go.

This should boot you to the choose language option and then after that the
utilities panel.

Go to disk utilities and then select the volume with your currently installed
os on it and then eraise that
Then close disk utility and select the install Mac os option from the list and
carry on from there.

Hi all,

I have been having issues with Voiceover on my new MacBook Pro, so the advice

At any rate, I have created a bootable Catalina installer as per the
instructions on the internet, but it does not show up under System Preferences

Any thoughts on what I can do to get it to show up?

Re: Bootable Catalina Installer

2019-11-14 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

Instead of using the bootable installer, do this:

• start your Mac in Recovery Mode.
• Select Disk Utility from the MacOS Utilities table then press Continue.
• Select Macintosh HD from the Selected Disks table.
• Press Erase in the Toolbar.
• Make sure the name is Macintosh HD and that the format is APFS then press the
Erase button.
• After it's done, press the Done button and cmd-q to Quit Disk Utility.
• Select Re-Install MacOS from the MacOS Utilities table then press Continue.
• Follow the prompts. It should be Continue, Agree, Agree.
• Select the Macintosh HD as the installation drive then press Install.

Let it do it's thing. Should take about 1/2 an hour to 40 minutes and it's all
done.

Later...
