Go to Settings > Siri & Search, then swipe to Voice Feedback, and make sure

Yes, I’m on Catalina and some of my audio books are in the books app b ut not
the new ones that I got for Xmas and Birthday. But now that I’ve checked the
books app again in iCloud Drive I’ll check again tomorrow. I’ve had a couple of
wines tonight and not going to look now.
Take care,

Petrus,
You said audio books. I know they are synced by using iTunes, so not sure if
the native books app will work with them. I’m still on Mojave, so have not yet
lost iTunes. Perhaps you’re already on Catalina?

Re: How do I share an EPUB file in books with someone?

2020-01-11 Thread Barry Hadder
If you have iBooks enabled in iCloud Drive options, you will probably find them
if you press command-shift-g in finder and paste the following path.
~/Library/Mobile Documents/iCloud~com~apple~iBooks/Documents/
You can also look here:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBooks/Books.
The latter is where purchased content goes, but I’ve seen some things I’ve
added show up at that location as well.

hello list,

As the subject says, I'm having problems updating my MacBook Pro mid 2014 to
Catalina.

first off, I downloaded the Catalina update and when I tried to run it it
wouldn't let me run it and said my machine wasn't configured properly.

secondly, I did attempted to do a clean install. With the eight PFS volume said
I still was unable to upgrade the only thing it would do was install Mojave it
would not let me install Catalina.

does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks a bunch.

Re: How do I share an EPUB file in books with someone?

2020-01-11 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
If the book isn’t copy protected and you have something like voice dream reader
I thought you might be able to move the file from the books app into voice
dream reader and share it that way? I’ve moved books from the books app to
voice dream reader before.

Setting timer using Siri

2020-01-11 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Hi all,
I have an interesting situation, it’s not really an issue but I’m rather
curious.
I quite often use Siri to set the timer on my phone using the clock app, when
we’re doing baking.
If I ask Siri to set the timer for a certain length of time it does it no
problems at all but won’t tell me that it’s done it. If my wife uses her phone
to do the same thing Siri will always say “Sure, your timer is set for …” So we
turned on VoiceOver on her phone and tried it again and Siri still said “Sure
your timer is set for whatever time”. Siri on my phone used to tell me when it
has set the time and how long for but it just does not do that any more. I have
to swipe across on the screen to check with VoiceOver if the timer has been
set.
One would almost think I’ve upset Siri in some way, and maybe I have. As far as
I know our settings are the same on both phones aside from the fact that I
have VoiceOver on all of the time.
Thanks,
Petrus

Re: How do I share an EPUB file in books with someone?

2020-01-11 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

If this is on iOS or iPadOS, try tapping the Library tab, locate the title you
wish to share, swipe up/down to hear Show Actions Pop-Over, then double-tap.
You should have Copy, Share book, and a bunch of other choices. Double-tap
Share Book and see if that does the trick.

Later...
