Re: Containers what are they? Was Thanks for help with moving to Dock

2020-06-29 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

Folders are not necessarily related to containers. The containers on your Home
screens are the Dock and the main area. This would be the same on each screen
you might have on your device. In the Mail app on iPad, the left hand side has
your list of mail accounts, and as ET mentioned, the right side has the list of
messages related to the selected mail account. There's a third container on
the iPad screen when in Mail that is the message data related to the selected
message within the message list. So, within Mail on the iPad, you actually
have three containers on the screen. This makes it quicker to navigate the
page by container than it would be by regular swiping gestures. Once you know
which mail account is selected,, you can swipe down when the rotor is set to
Containers, which would bring you quickly to the Message list, swipe a few
times to the message you wish to read and select it. If it does not
automatically bring focus to that message Information, you could swipe down
when in Container mode and you would now be at the message data without needing
to swipe through other messages to get to the content of the selected message.

Hope this makes sense.

Later...

Kawal,

Containers are groupings of apps. So the main part of the screen is one
container, and the dock is another. Moving by container is faster than moving
through all the apps on your screen.

RE: A very interesting problem with my new MacBook Pro's drive access when I'm in boot camp?

2020-06-29 Thread Simon A Fogarty
So what you're looking for is a shared drive or folder between the two
operating systems,

I did do this once a number of years back but I had to create a 3rd partition
on the drive in the mac book that I formatted as a Fat32 format, not at that
point trusting xfat or having something on my mac side to write to NTFS.

That would be my suggestion as I don't think from memory there is a way to do
it directly between the os in each platform.

You could though create a One Drive account within windows and install the one
drive app on your mac to write from either side to that one drive cloud storage
environment

Subject: A very interesting problem with my new MacBook Pro's drive access when
I'm in boot camp?

Hello everyone, the story goes somewhat like this, I moved my old system to the
new system. On the old system I was able to read my OS X drive without a
problem. When using paragons a PFS or Windows. After I moved that entire Time
Machine backup to the new computer I simply cannot access the drive in order to
read off a bit. In fact the mistake it for the paragon product, “a PFS or
Windows” I get “not supported” it says the drive is encrypted. I get the same
error message, when using Mac drive for Windows.

But when I look on my system it says FileVault is not turned on. I deleted all
my Time Machine snapshots. I’ve even removed VMware fusion. The only strange
third-party thing that may or may not be involved here is paragons NTFS for
Mac. Could this be the source of all my trouble? No matter how I slice this the
issue is still quite the same when on the Boot Camp side of the machine, I have
no way of copying anything from the backside while in Windows. Any thoughts on
the best way to approach this?

Sincerely Maurice Mines.

This is something I've wondered about as well,
So if you put apps in to a folder on a page,
Does this make it another / third container on for example the home screen?

Or should that be each additional folder of apps created on a page will become
an additional container?

 Thanks,

And thinking along the container line,

It's like putting things of the same type in to a container as a collection if
I'm reading this right.

Kawal,

Containers are groupings of apps. So the main part of the screen is one
container, and the dock is another. Moving by container is faster than moving
through all the apps on your screen.
Best,
Donna

A very interesting problem with my new MacBook Pro's drive access when I'm in boot camp?

2020-06-29 Thread maurice mines

Re: Containers what are they? Was Thanks for help with moving to Dock

2020-06-29 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Containers are just Apples word for the different sections on your iPad screen.
So if you open your settings on the iPad, instead of swiping across until you
find the settings you just opened you can find containers in the rotor and then
flick down with one finger and it will take you straight to the section on the
screen for your settings. So the screen is split and you have all your icons
at the top and a section opens below that for the settings.

suggestions. I figured out that the reason that the container command didn't
work yesterday was because I was using a different command. I read that the
command was dots- 4-7 chord. That did not work for me, but Jonathan's
suggestion of dot 6-chord worked quite well with containers in the rotor.
Cheers,
Donna

Kawal,

Containers are groupings of apps. So the main part of the screen is one
container, and the dock is another. Moving by container is faster than moving
through all the apps on your screen.

Donna

Re: Question about mail app

2020-06-29 Thread Greg Wocher
Hello,
Try using command plus 0 to bring back the message viewer. If you accidentally
use command plus w instead of command plus q to quit it will close the windows
and you will get that message. Its either this or sometimes it takes a few to
actually close the app. Sometimes you will get that message if the program did
not completely close. You can close it by force quitting the app.

It means that you probably used the Command-W too many times and closed the
