podcasts in Catalina

2021-03-19 Thread Lorie McCloud
I don't know what to do with podcasts in Catalina. when I open the app it lands
me on search. then I can right arrow along and get things like: Apple podcasts,
listen now, browse, top charts, library etc. nothing at all happens when I try
to interact with any of these things. I frequently hear: "Podcasts busy."

what I'm trying to do is download a certain set ofpodcasts. it's an audio drama
so it has a finite number. it appears to be another season of something I'm
already subscribed to. I just don't know what to do with the app. it's so
unresponsive. suggestions?

thanks.
Lorie

Energy Saver Preferences?

2021-03-19 Thread Fazil
Hi, group.

Today, I tried to reach energy saver preferences in System Preferences but I
could not find it there. Then I typed Energy Saver in SpotLight and found
the following dialogue box:

System Preference Alert!

You can not open energy saver preferences pane because it is not available
to you at this time. To see this preferences pane, you may need to connect
the device to your computer. Ok, default button.

Let me clarify that I was using Apple Magic (external keyboard).

How can I access Energy Saver, please?

Thanks!

Yes, I don’t think the, assign commands, button will be available unless you
have an active Braille display connected.

OK, thanks for confirming. that is exactly the situation. Like Brad, I've
received newsletters that are unreadable, but that isn't the case with this
one. It just doesn't work with VO-A.

I have also found this with certain formatted emails. It’s not necessarily a
situation where it isn’t readable. It’s just something specific to the

The command to begin reading from the current position of the VoiceOver

On my MacBook Pro, running the latest update of Big Sur, this command

Re: Braille Display Commands on Mac

2021-03-19 Thread 'Eileen Scrivani' via MacVisionaries
Hi Matthew,

Check in the VoiceOver Utility (VO+F8). Select Braille in the categories table,
then select the tab for Displays. Use the Tab key to move through the settings
and you will find commands there. I’m not sure how to use or set commands for a
display.

HTH.

Subject: Braille Display Commands on Mac

Hi everyone. I am working with a student who is using a Brailliant 32. I have
used this display in the past, but it was a few years ago. None of the commands
for VoiceOver work for the display and I think they need to go into the
commands table to fix it. As I don't have a display anymore, where is this
option and are they able to add/modify commands for quitting/opening
applications?
Thanks.

  God bless.

Re: Keyboard Focus?

2021-03-19 Thread Brad Snyder
1. Open VoiceOver Utility using VO + F8.
2. Select Navigation from the Utility Categories Table, or press CMD + 3.
3. Navigate to the item labeled "Synchronize keyboard focus and VoiceOver
cursor”, and make sure the checkbox is checked.

I receive inaccessible newsletters from various senders frequently.
The content of these newsletters is an inaccessible graphic that contains

Braille Display Commands on Mac

2021-03-19 Thread 'Matthew Dierckens' via MacVisionaries
Hi everyone. I am working with a student who is using a Brailliant 32. I have
used this display in the past, but it was a few years ago. None of the commands
for VoiceOver work for the display and I think they need to go into the
commands table to fix it. As I don't have a display anymore, where is this
option and are they able to add/modify commands for quitting/opening
applications?
Thanks.

Re: In latest Big Sur update, Command-A no longer working in mail

2021-03-19 Thread Brad Snyder
If I'm not mistaken, CMD + A, should select all.
The command to begin reading from the current position of the VoiceOver cursor
is, VO + A.
On my MacBook Pro, running the latest update of Big Sur, this command works as
expected.

Re: In latest Big Sur update, Command-A no longer working in mail

2021-03-19 Thread Jürgen Fleger
Hello Donna,

I haven’t updated yet but here are some suggestions:
1. Did you try VO + a?
2. If you open an e-Mail using Enter VO should read its content automatically.

All the best
Jürgen

Re: programming too the lidar in the 12 pro?

2021-03-19 Thread Sandi Jazmin Kruse
Hi. What I know so far is that if I hold the iPhone steady as I walk,
I never mind how fast I walk, and I walk relatively fast at 6 KPH.
According to Apple Watch, the iPhone is not complaining. That being
said, the lidar is not turned on before the camera detects a person,
or something that the AI thinks is a person. So far it is spot on.
Right now I am considering , if I shall, program this myself, otr pay
someone else to do it. Making it work should be quite easy, but being
enrolled in apples developing community, was last i heard quite
expensive. The range of the LIDAR is as Thomas says, 5 meters, or 15
Feet, it would be more than enough at least for me, there is a couple
of things i will need to think about regarding riding a horse, and
controlling an iphone, but i tried one of them today, ride the horse
1-handed, and control the scanner with the other one.
So to my next question, does anyone know if the Haptic engine, and the
phone vibrator, are the same motor? If i am lucky it is the same, if
it is advanced, it is 2 different motors.

/Sandie

Re: braille on Mac

thanks, Jonathan. I had forgotten where the braille verbosity settings were - I
was looking under braille, not verbosity. (Duh) That helped a lot.

Cheers,
Donna
