I also want to learn to use Braille display with Mac - the command to stop
interacting does not work with my Brailliant Bi 40 X and Apple Accessibility
have confirmed this and are investigating.

Hi. I just have the mouse follow the Voiceover cursor. That way, when I
interact with the slider and VO+Right Arrow to the time I want the screen to
shut off, I just click my track pad and it sticks where I put it.

Hi,

Yeah, that’s been a problem for a while. If you can use a physical mouse-click

Re: tables in pages

2022-02-15 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

When in your table, use left or right arrows to go between columns. Just the
arrows, not with VO keys. Once you’re on the column you want to add something
before or after, use option-left to add a column before, and option-right to
add a column after the one you are currently in.

HTH.

Re: Braille on IOS

2022-02-15 Thread joseph hodge
Hi Kawal,

Using braille on the Mac with a topical display with the Perkins keyboard is
quite challenging as they don't have a lot of commands to jump around the
operating system. However using something like the Mantis from APH and
Humanware is much easier as it is a full qwerty keyboard with a braille display
under it. Hims also has the qx braille but looking at documentation for it it
seems kind of complicated as you have to go between keyboard mode and braille
mode. Maybe someone with that display can chime in here to speak on that. All
that being said I would say Mac support is a bit sluggish overall and feels
like Apple hasn't paid as much attention to it as iOS. It works, but doesn’t
seem to feel as snappy as Windows.

Just to let you all know that Scott (not sure how to spell his surname) is
doing a brilliant series on Braille with IOS on the Braillist Foundation
website. If I can learn how to do the braille on the Mac then I’ll be sorted
but it’s not there for me yet. If anyone knows if the command keys (doing it
with the braille display) is the same on the Mac, please do let me know as I’ve
been trying to do it but with not a lot of luck.

Thanks.

Accessing time machine controls using VO

2022-02-15 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
I am running Monterey 12.2.1 on my 2018 iMac.
I am trying to understand how to restore an individual file from time machine.
As a test I have created several different versions of a test file and after
each version have used the menu extra time machine menu (VO+M+M) to force a
time machine backup.
I then find the test file on my Mac hard disk and use the menu extra menu bar
to enter time machine. I then use the window chooser (VO+F2+F2) to locate time
machine controls. this shows a "backup time line vertical slider" which if I
were sighted would let me choose the desired backup time for my test file.
How can I access this slider using VO?
There are also buttons labeled previous and next. I had hoped that I could go
through today’s backups by pressing the previous button. but that instead takes
me to yesterday’s backup at the time when I originally created the test file.
Any ideas on how to choose the desired backup time using VO?
Best … Paul Hopewell (hopew...@hopewell.org.uk)
