Re: Activating a text field with VoiceOver and Google Chrome problem

2022-03-01 Thread Jonathan Cohn
No, can't help here.
Need either specific steps you know work with another screen reader, or the URL
of the site so I can examine how it works.
Date pickers on web pages can be designed in several different ways and have
varying degrees of screen reader accessibility.
That being said, some versions of MacOS have issues with web components that
are using a element with explicit or implicit role of dialog. In these cases,
at least when using Safari, the best thing to do is to use the item chooser. I
expect that if you use the item chooser on a calendar popup typing just 2
after the chooser is active should give you
March 2, March 12, March 20, March 21, March 23, … March 29 as choices in the
reduced list.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Great, I have now joined and also joined the blind twitter community. The tabs
on the bottom of my app changed as soon as I joined this community.
Thanks!

RE: New Screen Reader Users Community on Twitter

2022-03-01 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Brett and thank you.

Just after posting my reply, last night, I discovered, just as you suggested,
that one will only see the Communities tab if one belongs to a community.

Thank you so much for offering to send me an invitation. A couple of hours
ago, before checking my emails, a friend with whom I have also been discussing
this topic, sent me an invitation so it looks as though I am up and running.

I will definitely see you on Twitter at your Twitter handle which is very
clever, by the way. My Twitter handle
Is @MarkMarcus.

Very frustrating.
I checked and I think you won't see the tab if you aren't part of any
communities (I think Twitter is running an experiment on who has access).
If you join a community from an invite (the link I sent or you can direct
message me on Twitter and I will send you an invite) I think you will then have
the Communities tab.
Appreciate you following up on this.

Hi Mark,
Spaces is where you can host audio only chats.
Communities is a separate tab.
Not sure why it isn't showing up for you.
Just to cover the obvious, this is on iOS on an iPhone (I have not tried this
on an iPad)?
Do you have the latest version of the twitter app?
Let me see if I can find out why the tab might be missing for you.

Hi,
Communities are a pretty new thing on Twitter.
I thought I would create one and see how it goes.
I think the community tweets should show up in your timeline but you probably
should bookmark for easy access.
Having said that, the iOS app has a tab at the bottom of the screen for
communities and I am finding that to be a quick way to access the communities I
belong to.
On the web, communities is under the more item near the top of the page.

Sort Order in Mail Attachments Window Solved

2022-03-01 Thread Steve Matzura
If you're sending a file via an email attachment from a Mac and are
having trouble getting the directory to sort in the order you want, do
the following:

1.In Mail, create a new message.

2. Open the Attach Files dialog (Shift+Command-A).

3. Navigate (browse, if you prefer) to the directory containing the
file(s) you want attached to the currently open outbound mail message.

4. Focus on any file in the list and interact with it.

5. VO-Left Arrow and interact with the object there. This is the bar
that goes across the top of all file lists and which contains the column
headers.

6. Down Arrow through the list until you find the sort order you want,
and press VO-Spacebar.

7. Stop interacting with the column headers

8. VO-Right Arrow back to the file list and stop interacting with it.

Your file list is now in the desired order.

Activating a text field with VoiceOver and Google Chrome problem

2022-03-01 Thread FIOGKOS
Hello everybody, hope you are well. I have run into an issue and I hope
somebody can help. Using Catalina on a 27 inch iMac with VoiceOver I open up
Google Chrome and I go to a particular website. I have to fill out some text
fields, uptill here no issues, there are some pop-up buttons that I activate
with the VO space bar and here no issues. However I run into a date field that
no matter what I do I cannot edit. I’m trying to schedule an event and in this
text field it will give me tomorrow’s date if I’m trying to schedule the event
today. I’ve been told by sighted people that if you click on the field a
Calendar pops up where you can choose a future date. I tried routing the mouse
pointer to VoiceOver using VO command F5 and then I click VO shift space bar
but nothing happens. I can’t seem to get this calendar to pop-up. When I’m on
this text field VoiceOver does say edit I interact with the field but it still
will not let me type out the date. Does anybody have any idea how I can
activate this field and calendar so I can choose the date that I want? And just
so I can make my problem and issue a little more clear those people who use
both Mac and windows, to activate this calendar and field with jazz you have to
use the virtual cursor. I hope I haven’t confused you too much and I hope I
have explained myself well . Any help is appreciated, any suggestions, any
ideas. Thank you in advance for any help

Re: In app purchases on iOS apps

2022-03-01 Thread Phil Halton
That’s what I thought. Yeah, it’s usually a short free trial. Or a stripped
down version that is virtually useless. Then you find out it’s big dollars to
unlock it. I wouldn’t of wasted my time installing it if I knew with some of
these costs are. Very deceptive and dishonest. Maybe a note to the app
developers B blasting them for their dishonesty and telling them I’ll go to
one of their competitors. but what good is that really gonna do. Maybe just
make me feel a little better.

Phil,

Basically you get the app for free or very cheap, but it’s trimmed down to just
a few features.

You find out what the full features cost after you run the app.

In app purchases on iOS apps

2022-03-01 Thread Phil Halton
I just started perusing the App Store for iOS apps and I’ve noticed that the
prices for apps seem to be buried in this “in app purchases “business. How can
you find out how much an app cost before you actually download it?. Are they
hiding the price somewhere in the description of the app that I’m not seeing?
Very deceptive in my view.

Re: New Screen Reader Users Community on Twitter

2022-03-01 Thread Brett Lewis
Very frustrating.
I checked and I think you won't see the tab if you aren't part of any
communities (I think Twitter is running an experiment on who has access).
If you join a community from an invite (the link I sent or you can direct
message me on Twitter and I will send you an invite) I think you will then
have the Communities tab.
Appreciate you following up on this.
