Trying Frndly tv

2022-05-29 Thread sarai.bucciarelli
Hi guys:

Well I'm on my 7 day trial of Frendly tv.

Testing on Apple TV and iPhone 13 pro Max. comparing it to the Directv Now
Stream app that I already have.

So Directv Now is more like a live cable subscription, allowing you to flip
between live tv channels. Its more user friendly than Frndly TV.

Frndly tv is usable. The guide is really hard to figure out, and you do not
know what channel is playing until you tap a show. Its also hard to tell
what day your on in the guide.

The on demand section is usable. Again, not knowing what channel your
playing until you click a show.

The DVR section is so far accessible. I was able to schedule a few shows to
record. The search feature is probably going to be how to access the
channels accessibly. Type in the name of the channel you want, click it from
the results then watch live button. Might be the easiest way to go here.

Customer service did respond to my email about accessibility improvements,
so that is a plus. The show names are readable with Voiceover.

I chose the $89.99 a year classic plan. Cheaper per year than the $8.99
monthly. I will decide by next Sunday if I want to keep it.

RE: I am baffled with the accessibility team.

2022-05-29 Thread kglists via MacVisionaries
Hello.

I’d just like to point out that whilst I reside in the UK, I have a local
telephone number for the Apple support team. If I call that, my call will go
to the USA and my number to them is a free local number. So anyone who thinks
that they can’t get apple Accessibility support look to find out if you can
call them using a local number from your own country.

Thanks.

Kawal.

Hi!

Since I am not in the u s I am not able to call the accessibility number.

So forget the support number.

Its when I do reports to the accessibil...@apple.com
I sometimes get very strange answers.

But as long they are aware of the issues its great.

I’m chiming in on this thread to offer some pointers. I can honestly state
that I’ve had very effective experiences with the assistance from the
access-ability team. These pointers follow:

First and foremost, make certain the technical support person you are working
with is fully aware of the circumstance of your disability. If you are totally
blind with absolutely no useful vision, make sure that support person
completely understands this. Likewise, if you do have a degree of useful
vision, make this clear as well. I called in for a problem and when I made it
clear that I have no useful vision at all I was immediately transferred to a
different, quite knowledgeable and helpful technician (after being advised of
the pending transfer of course).

Another pointer is to be prepared to offer detailed information concerning the
issue you are calling about. Have details regarding your platform (Mac,
iPhone, iPad, etc.) and the current operating system installed on said platform.

Likewise, be sure to have detailed information for the component you are
calling about. Be able to offer a complete, but concise description of the
problem. Just for example, if you are having problems getting e-mail messages
to your sister, the tech has no use for such information unless the problem
occurs when trying to send e-mail to your sister only. This does not mean you
shouldn’t be friendly and personable, just don’t include excessive minutia in
your conversation. Odds are, whomever you wind up talking to is quite busy and
wants to get your problem satisfactorily resolved as quickly as possible. I
know this because I worked in such a position for a number of years at Bell
Labs.

And, as suggested by others in this thread, inform your tech support person if
you are aware of others having similar issues. As horrible as this might seem,
it is possible that a given problem may not be a particularly high priority.
Sad as this is to say, if it happens that you are the only one experiencing
this problem resolving it may get placed on “the back burner.” This is simply
common sense; if there’s a problem popping up for 20% of users and the problem
you are reporting is specific to you only would you really want resources spent
to fix this “one user only” problem. I certainly would not.

Finally, it is possible that the tech you are working with is not up to the
challenge of resolving your problem. Do not hesitate to make follow-up contact
with the hope that a different, more engaged tech will be able to resolve it.

Mac mail server settings disappeared. Help Please

2022-05-29 Thread 'Ron' via MacVisionaries
Hi there, I went to enter a App Specific Password into my Mac Mail Gmail
account server settings only to find they are no longer visable. In fact all
the mail account server settings have gone except for an Outlook account. They
were visable 2 weeks ago as I updated the password on one of them and it was
straight forward. Looking online
there seems to have been various problems similar over the years. I have been
unable to find a way of resolving this problem. Does anyone have any idea’s?
I am fairly new to computing , so any simple instructions would be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance, Ron.

My suggestion is to go to System Preferences > Internet Accounts, and delete
the account, or accounts, that are having an issue. Then, recreate the
account, and enter the necessary information.

Re: dimmed

2022-05-29 Thread Brad Snyder
E.T. is correct. This is exactly what you need to do.
My error for saying you needed to click the lock. I was thinking you were in
the Security and Privacy section of System Preferences.
That's what happens when I go through email quickly on my phone.

There is no lock in that section. When an item is dimmed, it usually means
