Hi Lenron,

Let us know what you think once you get it. I totally get the appeal of the
extra battery life. I don’t buy the cellular model—or at least I haven’t in
the past, so for me the price difference is more substantial.
Cheers,
Donna

A Message from Moderator Mark to the Group Regarding Mailing List Distribution Outages

2023-09-24 Thread MacVisionaries

Hello Everyone,

For the past few days, I have noticed that after 6PM (California local
time) to approximately 6AM, posts to the list, while being visible via the
Google Group web portal, are not being distributed to email clients.

I don’t know why this is happening nor do I know when it will end but if
you are posting to the list during the time window, listed above, members
who rely on email clients to read group messages, will not receive your
posts.

So if you sent a message to the list, last night (California local time),
for example and did not receive a reply, it is because only people who use
the web portal would have seen your message.

Just so you know, I do not use the web portal to read messages posted to
the group.

If you use a web browser to access group messages, you will not have
noticed any change in the list behavior.

However, if you are like me, and rely on a third-party email client, for
the foreseeable near future, remember to only post to the group during the
6AM (California local time) to 6PM window.

Hopefully, whatever problem Google is having with its group servers will be
resolved, soon.

Moderator Mark

Re: Apple Watch Ultra 2

2023-09-24 Thread lenron brown
I am going ultra 2 coming from the 6. I would rather have 36 hours of
battery life over just having 18 if I get the 9. In low power mode you
can get even more time. I would get the Cellular version of the 9 in
45mm and at that point I would already be paying 529, so I might as
well just get the Ultra. I love the bigger watchs so that extra 4 mm
is nothing. I am thinking trail or Alpine loop.

Re: Apple Watch Ultra 2

2023-09-24 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Dear Brad,

I apologize if my question put you on the defensive. That was not my intention.

Though I suppose one’s definition of a significant price difference is
relative, in my book, $400 constitutes a pretty significant price difference.
You made the statement that you think one gets what one pays for, which
suggests that in your opinion the $400 extra has value for the consumer. So,
to restate my question, what do you feel makes the additional $400 worth it? I
understand that that is somewhat subjective. The one clear difference I see is
in battery life. For me, that is probably not worth $400, but perhaps for you
it is. Also, the benefits for athletes are clear, and perhaps you are an
athlete.

If you bought the Ultra just because you liked it, that’s fine. But that’s
different from deciding to spend the extra money because you feel that there is
a technical advantage to the product. As I’m sure you are aware, we frequently
discuss the benefits and disadvantages of different products on this list, so
with that in mind, I do not think my question was unreasonable.
Best,
Donna

Re: Apple Watch Ultra 2

2023-09-24 Thread Brad Snyder
The price difference is not significant.
The Watch Ultra is only about $50 more than a Comparable stainless steel 45mm
model.
As I stated in my first post, I tried on the watch Ultra, and liked it so much
that I bought it on the spot.
I don’t have to justify my decision to purchase the watch to anyone. I liked
the watch, so I got it, and I am very happy with it.

RE: Apple Watch Ultra 2

Battery life would be nice.. however I hear the thing is way big on your wrist.

Tibor,

Just wondering why you want an Ultra 2? They are much more expensive, and
unless you engage in extreme sports or activities such as mountain climbing, I
personally don’t see any reason to spend that kind of money. The Ultra is
designed to withstand very severe weather conditions. Unless that’s something
you need, a series 9 would probably suit you just fine. It would certainly be
a nice upgrade from a series 4.

Just my $.02, as one who will never spend the money on an Ultra.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: Apple Watch Ultra 2

2023-09-24 Thread Brad Snyder
I have the first generation watch ultra, and like it very much. The second
generation ultra is identical. The size and bulk of the watch is hardly
noticeable. When I went to the Apple Store to try it on, I fell in love with it
immediately and bought it on the spot. Mine came with the midnight blue Ocean
band, which I didn't care for because the corrugated edges of the band bothered
my wrist. I replaced it with a midnight blue leather link band that I bought
from Apple. It makes the Watch look a lot dressier and feels very comfortable.
Sure the price of the watch and replacement band are high, but it's Apple
quality, and I feel you definitely get what you pay for. If you decide to get
one, I have no doubt you'll be very pleased with it.
