the Mac's “Recovery” environment, you’ll modify the System Security

Apple's developers are restricting the availability of kernel extensions
for security reasons. You're using an application that still depends on
them, so you'll have to follow those instructions if you want to install it.

As far as I know, changing the security settings as instructed should be
possible with VoiceOver. However, I personally wouldn't want to use an
application that required fundamental security settings to be changed.
If you want to go ahead, it's at your own risk, and at some stage, Apple
may well decide to disallow kernel extensions altogether.

RE: Mark's Update to iOS and iPad OS 17.2: An Extremely Positive Experience

2023-12-15 Thread Jessica Barr
I'm very happy with iOS 17.2; however, when I updated my Apple Watch to 10.2,
the VoiceOver voice reverted to Samantha, and I cannot change it back to Zoey
enhanced. I spent almost two hours on the phone with Apple Accessibility and
the problem still hasn't been resolved. I know some people like the Samantha
voice, but I can't stand it. I hope someone can figure out a fix soon. I also
updated to macOS 14.2 and I've heard great things, but I haven't done a whole
lot with that yet. I'm still "getting my feet wet" where the Mac is concerned.

Subject: Mark's Update to iOS and iPad OS 17.2: An Extremely Positive
Experience

Hello All,
Okay, I updated all of my devices, including my Apple TV boxes to their
respective latest versions of the OS.
I am absolutely stunned to report that after testing virtually every aspect
of all of my must-have native and third-party apps, I have not yet
encountered a bug.
And, as painful as it is for me to admit, I think Apple has done a splendid
job with the new version of the native TV app for iOS, iPad OS and, yes,
dare I say it, even TV OS.
I also updated my Apple Watch Series 7 to Watch OS 10. Again, I can not
find a bug.
In fact, the hap tic time works consistently using the same gestures I've
used since the feature was introduced many years ago.
I have not yet had the opportunity to use a Braille display with the latest
OS so cannot comment on that aspect of the OS.
However, I will say that all of the VoiceOver glitches that I experienced,
when having two active E SIM cards installed, has been completely resolved.
Speaking only for myself, I am absolutely delighted with iOS 17.2. I am
running the OS on my beloved 1GB iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Before installing the OS I:
1.
Made a full backup of the device on my beloved Windows 10 PC with the latest
version of iTunes.
2.
Backed up the device to iCloud.
3.
Closed every app via the App Switcher.
4.
Disconnected any non-crucial devices from my primary network.
5.
Disconnected all of the sub-networks from the primary network.
6.
Rebooted the device, twice, and allowed it to sit idle for 2-minutes. This
insures that the device has full acquisition of the network.
7.
Downloaded and install the OS, OTA (over the air).
Mark

Mark's Update to iOS and iPad OS 17.2: An Extremely Positive Experience

2023-12-15 Thread M. Taylor

Mark

Re: What's going on with Audio Hijack.

2023-12-15 Thread Jonathan Cohn
A kernel extension is code that modifies the kernel, When CMU created the
Mach kernel ( a little like the Linux kernel,… ) it provided the ability to add
extensions to extend driver functionality. Apparently Rogue amoeba software
requires this to get to the underlying audio streams. Apple discourages kernel
extensions for the past 4 or 4 versions, since they can have full access to
everything in your computer. But since there are various products that depended
on kernel extensions, Apple provides a way for a user to still allow these
extensions to run.
HTH!

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

What's going on with Audio Hijack.

2023-12-15 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
I try to upgrade to Audio hijack 4.3 And get this message.
You now need to adjust your system’s settings to allow ACE to run. In the Mac's
“Recovery” environment, you’ll modify the System Security Policy to match the
settings pictured below.
A security policy with “Reduced Security” selected, and the “Allow user
management of kernel extensions” checkbox turned on. image
To access the “Recovery” environment, shut down your Mac, then press and hold
the Power button until “Loading startup options” appears.
Very frustrating.
How to accomplish this.
Can it be done with a bluetooth keyboard.
Bless.
