Re: Question about mouse click on the Mac
Thank you Brad for giving me the full explanation. I’m glad I waited because I had decided not to use it until tomorrow. So all is well. Thanks again. And I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season. And that goes to everyone else too. Gail Sent from Gail’s iPhone > On Dec 25, 2019, at 6:18 PM, Brad Snyder wrote: > Hi Gail, I’m sorry, but Max’s tip is incorrect. The command he gave you, VO + Spacebar, is the command for VO to perform the default action on the item in the VO cursor. The correct way to perform a mouse click on a Mac using VoiceOver is as follows: 1. Navigate so that the VO cursor is on the item you wish to perform the mouse click on, for example an edit field or some other item on the screen. 2. Route the mouse pointer to the VO cursor, with the keyboard command VO + CMD + F5. Please note that on your MacBook Air, you may need to hold the FN key down with this command in order to make the F5 key perform as a normal F-key. 3. Now, do the keyboard command VO + CMD +SHIFT + Spacebar to perform a single mouse click. HTH - Brad - On Dec 25, 2019, at 18:18, 'Gail Selfridge' via MacVisionaries wrote: Thanks Max. Question about mouse click on the Mac
I have come across a problem for which I can find no solution. I am using a Mac book air running Sierra. I am staying with Sierra because I have a job right now that will end shortly and I don’t want to mess up that job by bringing on a new operating system that may puzzled me. But I have come across something in my personal use that puzzles me anyway. I have come across a situation which demands a mouse click and of coarse I have no mouse. I probably could click it if I had one but I don’t. And I don’t really want to mess with a mouse for one little problem. I just got a Google home speaker and I am really fascinated with it but I would like to sign up for something that will make it so that I can ask for songs individually. The problem is that I have to change my password. That usually is no big deal but this one has a link which it demands I click. I can’t find a way of clicking this link on my Mac. Since I have no Mouse I would have to do it using the keyboard but I don’t know how to do that. Is there a keyboard command that will act like a mouse click on the Mac? I know there is on the windows computer and I have a Windows computer but it gave me so many problems I have pretty well trashed it and I wouldn’t like to try to get it up just to solve this problem. Re: New Mac User
I am another new member, but I am a little more experienced than Marie. I joined this group because I have a job with my church editing documents. We are using Pages and I don’t know a whole lot about pages. We are not using the templates, thank heaven. We are just using it the way one would use text edit so I don’t have a lot to learn but any fine points would be beneficial. This looks like a very good group and I know a few of you from other lists I already know that the Mac is a much better computer than PCs using windows. Gail Sent from Gail’s iPhone On Aug 31, 2019, at 9:04 AM, Marie wrote: Thanks for the welcomes by you and John. I also am familiar with Apple Vis since I have been using the IPhone since 2011 and even do a bit of teaching in it’s use for newly vision impaired individuals. I believe I have the mindset to learn the Mac. Looking forward to the group interaction. I recommend you visit his web site at macfortheblind.com and look at his audio tutorials. Many are cost-based, but there are about a half dozen basic tutorials that are free, and are very well done. I learned a lot from John’s tutorials, and also from those done by David Woodbridge on appleviz.com (did I spell that one right?). I did a lot of listening and struggling in my first 3 or 4 months using the Mac, but am becoming more comfortable with the Sox approach. I made it a point to become familiar first with the Mail and Textedit apps, and then spent a whole lot of time learning how to get around in Finder. Calendar and Contacts were a bit more difficult to use, and I’m still not comfortable with Contacts. Other places you should spend time poking around would be in the Voiceover Utility and System Preferences. And of course post your questions to this list. There are some real experts on board.
