RE: SlingTV on AppleTV

2016-09-18 Thread Andrew McKay
It is a principle to me, the company has been very rude about accessibility of
the SLING TV apps. Therefore, I will not support them, whether I can find a
way or not.

Wow, it really doesn’t take much time. Especially when you use the app for
your every day programing, it’s just like remembering things in school, or how
many steps it takes to get to your mail box. 2nd nature, at least for me
anyway.

RE: new Mac

2016-09-10 Thread Andrew McKay
I would echo everything Alex said. If you ever want to run Windows in a VM,
memory is key. A solid state drive though is the most game changing. Think
towards the future though--a little more investment might mean an extra year or
two considering how long Apple hardware holds up.

Either will handle VoiceOver just fine. Your biggest enhancement will come if
you can switch to a solid state drive, which will make app launching, opening
new windows, loading files, and other tasks a great deal faster.

If I could only pick one, it would depend on what I was planning to do. Run
Windows virtually: ram. Encode videos: CPU. Do a *lot* at once: ram. get
smoother overall performance: CPU. If possible, upgrade to 8GB of ram, then get
the best processor you can with your budget. You can get away with 4GB of ram,
but nowadays I don't recommend it.

Hi guys:
Hope all is going well. I currently have a 2010 15 inch Macbook pro, 500 GB HD,
cor i7 processor. Basically, when I got it, I customized it with the max
customizations that Apple had at the time. I bought it around March, or April
2010, when ever this particular Mac came out. it has served me very well, but
is slowing down, and the battery isn’t lasting. Apple will not repair, or
replace any parts.
I’m currently looking at either the 2015 MBP 13 inch, or 2015 MBA 13 inch. My
two questions are, which of these two would better handle Voiceover? Second
question, if you could only pick one, would you upgrade the RAM or CPU?

I store credit cards in ICloud. Keychain has industry best encryption. It is

RE: and you can charge and have audio at the same time over 3.5 adapter

2016-09-07 Thread Andrew McKay
While I believe this whole deal over moving to a more modern digital adapter
has been blown way out of proportion by some, I am curious, Is the fact you can
charge and use this adapter at the same time on their web page somewhere--or
just word of mouth? I watched the entire event never heard them say you could
charge at the same time.

for folks who belly ached about not having a 100+ year old jack in your phone,
you can charge and use the jack at the same time.

Now wasn’t all that flaming worth it? Ah well, you know who got to spout off
and get clicks for his blog.

RE: VoiceOver Accessibility Issues for Blind Users in iOS App

2016-09-03 Thread Andrew McKay
I have previously contacted Tile support numerous times about the poor
accessibility in their app. After buying three tiles, it is rather
disappointing the lack of care around this issue and I too will probably be
forced to look elsewhere.

I've observed same with Tiles and it's due to custom controls and not
overwriting the UIAccessibilityLabel to a sensible string.

I'm considering switching to TrackR, especially since there is ALexa skill
integration.

The key issue I am having is each tile name (i.e. backpack, keys,

txt_tile_name
txt_tile_name

Apple has specific programming guidelines for making iOS apps
VoiceOver accessible:

Can you get in contact with your developers and engineering team on this?
