when you are in the middle of the screen on your iPhone, just hold and flick
like you are using the real remote. when you want to move down a list or left
or right, just touch and hold and flick in the direction you want to move the
curser. When you want to make a selection, just tap the middle of the screen,
and that will conferm your selection. There are 2 buttons on the bottom left
and right of your screen, these do just what the buttons on the apple tv remote
do. if you want to go back, press the lower left of the screen, to play/pause,
press the lower right. you can also play/pause by tapping the middle of your

As for OCR on the Mac, I'm currently just using VueScan. If you set it to
multipage scanning, you can then set the number of seconds between scans so
that you don't have to keep pressing Cmd-N to launch a scan.

The quality of the OCR is pretty good and it offers several languages. I
can't remember which languages, but I'm sure the usual European languages
 are included.

It also handles columns correctly, so I can scan two pages of a book at a

Re: Possible showstopper in Garageband latest version

2010-10-30 Thread Goldfinga Productions
you need to use the loop, not the right or left. that right or left is only to
move it. you cn move the right edge, then move the left over to kind of where
the right is, and it wil re-locate the hole thing. Example: I have a 1-bar loop
and I drop it on 1.1, I want to move it to 4.1. I slide the right edge to bar
5, and move the left edge to 4. That will move the loop from 1.1/2.1 to 4.1/5.1
HOpe that makes some kind of sense.

I made a project and put in a drum loop which i wanted to stretch out over

chose to move the right edge of the object. I then tried to move the loops
right edge and all i heard was 2 bars or in a case with a longer loop 4
bars and the right edge didn't move, not a tick. Now the indicator for end
of song is at bar no 33, so no oversteping of boundries there. I tried this
with the various motown drummer loops which are real instruments. What's up
with this, is there a limit for how much you can stretch a loop with real
instruments? Can i not stretch sterio loops? Surely this shouldn't have any
impact on things when you use Vo but you'll never know? or worst of all, is
this a bug in VO and its cooperation with Garageband? If so, as i said, this
 is a showstopper.

Yes it does, if you want to have the same loop in several places in a song
with pauses inbetween, first copy and paste the loop as i said before, then,
when you've manipulated the loop just as you want it, select the loop again

Re: trouble with loops in garageband 11

what I do is while I am browsing loops, I copy the one I am currently on if I
like it with command c. Then, I just press command v right where I am in the
song. If you press play you will hear where you are in the song, and where ever
you press command v, that's where the loop will drop.
You can use left and right arrows to get to where you want in the song, then
just paste away.
I will try this other way though.

Re: quick garage band question

2010-10-29 Thread Goldfinga Productions
go to the start of the edit you want to make, and press command t, then that
will split the point there. Then go to the end of the place you want to cut and
press the same thing, command t and it will split again, you will than have 2
extra regions. Delete those extra regions.

assume you can move the play head even down to tick level, but how?
Other than that, this seems fantastic! Thank you, Apple, thank you.

Select the loop, then use the resize item in vo. The command is
(VO-cmd-shift). THis will bring up a VO menu which will have an option for
loop. Press on this, and you should be able to stretch the loop.
To move the playhead by increments smaller then bar/beat, you need to zoom in
with GB. There is a keyboard command for this, but I don't remember off
hand. In any case, you can use the zoom slider. Just interact, and move the
slider. Keep moving it until you find the desired unit you wish to move the
 playhead.

This allows you to remap keys with a simple 2 and from field then you

I've included the message below. I'm hoping that the jailbreak

  Larry Wanger lsw...@gmail.com 30 September 2010 23:00
I sent the following note to Apple Accessibility. No Voice Over on the
ATV and the remote app is rendered on the iPhone and iPad such that it
can not really be used either. Things will improve somewhat with
Airplay once implemented but not entirely. I hope others will consider
 writing as well.

 Hi,

I want to share my displeasure with Apple as I’ve just learned that
the new Apple TV product does not currently offer any kind of access
to blind and low vision television viewers through implementation of
Voice Over. I learned of this by calling and speaking with a sales
representative at Apple who checked with one of your engineers to find
out if accessibility features were built in to the product. Whether
Apple recognizes it or not, blind and low vision people enjoy watching
television and movies as well and Apple has unfortunately missed out
on an opportunity to continue to be a leader in this important area of
 technology.

While I was somewhat surprised to learn the actual Apple TV box did
not offer Voice Over, I was even more surprised to learn that the
newly updated remote app fails to provide a meaningful solution. Had
Apple implemented the remote app for the ATV in the same way that it
has allowed end users to use Airtunes I suspect things would have been
different. Recall that the remote app essentially rendered the user’s
iTunes library, showing music, podcasts and other media content. The
user could scroll through content and choose what to play. Best of
all, Voice Over worked well with this app. A similar implementation
would have offered an accessible solution. Beyond this, my
understanding of the technical specifications of the ATV would
indicate that the box itself should have enough horse power to handle
the same implementation of Voice Over that we currently enjoy on other
 Apple products.

I also would be remiss if I did not mention the recent passage and
pending presidential signing of the 21st Century Communications and
Video Accessibility Act. One of the provisions of this legislation is
the requirement for industry to develop set-top boxes that offer
accessibility features for blind and low vision users. While this has
happened after Apple developed this product, I mention it in hopes
that Apple will consider being a leader in this area by making its new
ATV accessible in the near future.

Please know that like so many others, I am very appreciative of
Apple’s efforts and leadership by including Voice Over on the iPhone,
iPad and other products. However, it seems that Voice Over could have
been implemented on this device as well. I look forward to being able
to purchase and use the new Apple TV in the future.

I've got Mac speech but as yet not got it up and running!
I've been sent an opportunity to upgrade to the new Dragon dictate for Mac!
I'm writing to the list to see if any of you use either software and ask if
it is as good as they claim!
I have not heard any one on the list talk about it so I was wondering if
 anyone actually use it!
 Any advice welcome!
 Yours sincerely
 Colin

Re: Help with Fission.

2010-09-27 Thread Goldfinga Productions
would it better to get this program or use audacity? I have been playing with
that and it seams pretty cool. Witch one is better? I like the multi-track
setup in audacity.
Can you have multi tracks in this one as well?

Figured out Amadeus. 2 minutes of looking at that program yielded the results
I needed. If I set spacebar to rewind, then use left and right brackets in
conjunction with shift, it looks like I can make my selections. Awesome.
Looks like I can use this just like I did with soundforge on windwos.
 Fantastic.
