It's the Messenger app and the latest update. I was having this issue on iOS 16.6 starting a few weeks ago, and it's still happening with iOS 17. FB will periodically break Messenger in their updates. The only advice I can give is to contact FB Accessibility. They might or might not do anything about it. I’ve been on the beta team for a while and this feedback has been given many times. They know about it and are hopefully working on adding that feature. I use it daily for work. I’m not a huge fan of it, but it does work well enough to read messages in channels and sending messages.
