 Hi Paul
I think I have figured out a workaround until Apple fixes it. It's not true
that you can't edit the thing although it does appear that way. When I went
into the name field voice over didn't tell me that I was moving between
insertion point at start or insertion point at the end. I tried this twice,
and here is what I think I have figured out.

Voice over is just not telling you what is what. It appears that if you
double tap on the name field, that you end up automatically at insertion
point at end. When I did it, voice over said insertion point at start every
time, but that was not true all the time, I think. So for now, you can just
assume that you're at the end and delete character by character. I could
not get into the edit field where you could take out the whole thing if you
wanted to without doing a character by character deletion. However, I was
successful at editing the field although not normY like we're used to.
 Regards,
 Gigi

product feedback. Then he told me that he would check with the Engineering
team to see if there is a work around. I followed these steps to submit
this feedback and I would encourage everyone on the list to submit feedback

 1. I went to the Apple Product Feedback page.
 2. Since I have an IPhone 4s, I accessed the IPhone link.
 3. I wrote my comments.
 4. I submitted the feedback.

When submitting your feedback please specify that you are using IOS 7. I

catch this issue while testing and if so, did you report it. I want to be
sure that apple responds to these issues during Beta testing. Please, if
any of you elect to beta test IOS in the future, contacts should be one of
the first things you check since it’s of interest to everyone. Finally, if
any of you were successful getting your feedback heard and responded to
during BETA, tell us exactly how you did it so that we can help in the

Re: searching mail

2012-06-24 Thread Walter Harper
Hello,
I will give that a try. Thanks for letting me know. I no it can be a little
tricky.
Walter
On Jun 24, 2012, at 4:30 AM, Søren Jensen s...@coolfortheblind.dk wrote:

 Hi.

Let's see if I can explain how it works, because it's a bit tricky to explain:
After you've entered a name of a person in the search field in the toolbar,
you can use the up and down arrows to choose where you wanna search. You can
choose between the body text, the from field and the subject field. Please
note that when you've chosen one of these categories, you can't spell what
you've writen by using the arrow keys. The text you've written will be shown
as a group. The reason for that is because you can make multiple groups.
Let's take an example to clear up any confusion my explanation might give:
You can find this mail by doing the following:
Copy my name to your clipboard because of the danish letter in my name: Søren
 Jensen
Go to your inbox and find the search field in the toolbar
Paste in my name, press the down arrow to VOiceover says: From: Søren Jensen,
popup button press return and then press the spacebar to make a new search
 category.
Type this subject: Searching mail, and then press the down arrow again until
you come to: subject and press the return key again.
Now you have these two categories which you can read by pressing the left and
 right arrow keys.

Now, back to your question on how to search in mails in your trash folder:
When you've typed in the name of the person you wanna search for, chosen that
you wanna search in the from field and then pressed the return key, stop
interacting with the toolbar and then move the VO cursor right to the
favorite group. I'm sorry if I got that item wrong in english since my system
 is currently in danish.
Interact with this group and there you can choose what folder you wanna see
 the search results from.

I hope my explanation was understandable and helpful. Please let me know if
there's something you don't understand or if you have more questions.
 Best regards:
 Søren Jensen

you need to find an avid dealer for pro tools but be advised, pro tools is

ProTools is used in educational establishments and in most production and

Re: Slow boot time with Lion. Opinions wanted.

 Hi,

I've reported that issue several times to apple. They're aware of it, and
are working on a fix, at last response from the support people. Things like
this take time, however, so don't expect it to be fixed tomorrow.
Now keep in mind, I also experienced and still am experiencing what you guys
are talking about, but it's honestly no reason to shoot down the OS, for
something that they're obviously trying to fix, even if it takes them a bit
longer than we'd like to pinpoint what's causing the issue.
Another thing you have to keep in mind, Lions minimum system requirements
state 2GB of ram and a 2.0GHZ dual core processor is the bear least you can
get away with and run Lion, but with some slowness. Ram can have a factor in
boot times, as well as hard drive speed (5400 as opposed to 7200 RPM), so be
aware of that fact as well.

Hello. I, too, experience incredibly slow boot times with lion. I'm using a
2011 Macbook Pro 724LLA or whatever that model number is, and I'm guessing
your estimate of 1 minute 43 seconds is about the same for my boot time.
More annoying for me than the slow boot time, though, is that under lion, VO
startup is hit and miss at best. When lion first came out, it always got
stuck in come window called com.doc.apple.extra. That got fixed, only to be
replaced by the fact that if VO starts talking by itself at all, I'm stuck
in a window called speech synthesis server. In all the time I've run lion,
it's never landed me on the desktop the way snowy kitty always does, and
more often than not, I have to press command-tab before VO says anything at
 all.
So, to make a long story short, it isn't just you, and like you, I've tried
everything I can think of to solve the problem, but nothing seems to make a
difference. It seems that my ancient 80 GB external drive which I still use
to boot into Snow Leopard when necessary runs faster than Lion, and that's
just wrong. So, like you, I'm wondering if there's any point in reporting
this to apple, or if it's something that taking my macbook to an apple store
might fix. I've just learned to live with it, but it's very strange,
especially since Snow Leopard boots so much faster and always reliably
 starts on the desktop.
If you ever find a way to speed up lion's boot time, please share as I'd
love to get this issue resolved somehow.
 Thanks!
 Missy

 Hi everyone.
I'm just wondering if any of you are experiencing slow boot times when
running Mac OS 10 Lion on you're Macs?
I did a time estimation just now and found that from the press of the power
button until VO is heard on the log in screen takes roughly 1 minute and 43
 seconds.
I'm running a late 2008 unibody MacBook and even though it is an older Mac,
it was never that slow while running SnowLeopard.
I've tried everything I can think of. I've Ran a battery of tasks using
Onyx, I've cleaned out my login items, I've checked free disk space,
repaired permissions, verified the start up disk, etc, etc.
Just wondering if this might be worth sending in a bug report to Apple or
calling Apple Care on this issue.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks and have a great evening,
Matthew Campbell and the slowpoke Mac.
