macbook pro not pairing with smart beetle

Am writing on behalf of a friend. she asked me the following question 

it is not working with usb or bluetooth.  
smartbeetle latest version macbook pro 4 5 years old. 

MacOS Catalina 10.15.1 software update 

any help much appreciated.
