Re: A very handy way to deal with junk mail

2024-04-17 Thread denise Barajas
Hey, this certainly sounds like a very nifty and helpful tip. I'll
totally give this a try. I will admit though, sometimes there is the
occasional email that truly should belong in your inbox,so this is
something to just thoroughly go through it at first. Maybe a few a day
should work out, that way nobody needs to enslave themselves to the
task. Anyway, hopefully this also finds you well.

Warm and sincere regards,

Denise Barajas

Hi all,

I’m posting this to the list because it was something I only just learned
about, and it has turned out to be very handy.

Apple has an email address that you can use to report junk mail. All you have
to do is forward the offending message to ab...@icloud.com. I was skeptical of
whether this would work, but it really does. Forwarding these messages has
taken me down from about 250 junk mails a day, to one, if that. When you’re
getting as much junk mail as I was, it’s kind of a pain to have to forward
every message, but it really does work. It was only a matter of a few days
before my junk mail started dropping off dramatically.

As I said, I didn’t know about this until I started googling what to do about
excessive junk mail, so I thought there might be others here would benefit as
well.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: Skype Issue on My MacBook Air 11 inch computer

2017-07-09 Thread Denise Barajas
Hi Helga, when you reinstall a new version of Skype, I know that you don't move
updates as far as the contacts and I do think your conversations are intact as
well. It's been a while since I've checked myself, so maybe I should. God bless
to you as well and I hope this helps.

Hello Helga, online I know of one way you can uninstall an application only.
When you are in the Finder window, you can press command shift plus a to go
into the applications folder. Next, do you find the Skype application and you
simply delete it and that's how you uninstall an app. I hope this helps

Re: Anyone install OS X 10.11.4?

2016-03-23 Thread Denise Barajas
I've installed it, but I don't see mch of a difference. the only thing that is
currently odd is that VO sometimes goes from speaking through my internal
speakers from the USB. It's every so offten, so I'll try and flip VO off and on
again to see if that fixes the issue. blessings to all.

issue from a friend

2016-01-13 Thread Denise Barajas
Hello all,
I recently was talking to a friend of mine who claims to be having issues when
trying to copy and paste text from the Internet fromhis Mac onto a different
location. I heard him try and mess with the command, but Voiceover kept
repeating the first thing he was selecting all the time, and we made sure that
things like quick nav were off and the like. I believe he's using a Macbook Pro
2013 but he is also using the latest version of Yosemeti. He's tried to restart
the machine and VO, but to no avail. If any suggestions could be offered, that
would greatly be appreciated.
Blessings to oyou all.

Re: OSX 10.11.2

2015-12-09 Thread Denise Barajas
Hi, I never had any problems since upgrading. The only locational issue I had
was with voiceover crashing and sometimes I had issues deleting a message
immediately after reading which in turn, what force me to close the message and
have to delete it that way. Other than that, I never found any other issues
with instability.
May God richly bless you.

Re: Apple car, anyone?

2015-09-18 Thread Denise Barajas
This certainly would be very interesting. I haven't really heard or read very
much of anything, due to the fact that I myself find myself extremely occupied
more or less on the daily basis. When I'm not going to school, I kind of just
chill out and try to either run my own errands out of the house and usually
when I'm in the public transit system, I like to get lost in my favorite music.
Otherwise, if I stay home, I try my best to try and catch up with important
email, or I just play my mud client game. It certainly does think a few
questions though. How safe and how credible could a project like this be
especially for those of us with no vision? There are many more that can come to
my mind at the moment, but I can't really think of writing them, as I'm barely
starting my day myself. Either way though, I have posted this on various places
and if they do turn out to be well equipped and well established, I might
consider going to try one of them myself. I hope these thoughts don't sound too
general or two simple. Blessings to all of you

Re: VoiceOver On, Speech Off, on a MacBook Pro

2015-07-22 Thread Denise Barajas
Hello, this option can usuallybe toggled if you have a trackpad active by
tripple finger double tapping on the trackpad in the middle of your screen
to switch the setting. If you are not having this option active with the
trackpad, then you will have to solicit assistance from someone that's
sighted. I hopet this helps you.

Blessings to you.

easy way to get speech back on? I’m not sure how it got turned off in the
first place, but, since it says nothing once it tells me that speech is
off, the machine is not usable at this point.

 Thanks in advance.

question about audio hijack 3

2015-04-18 Thread Denise Barajas
Hello all,

I can’t remember how to make a new sesion for audio hijack pro so I can have
certain things as they once were on the previous version of audio hijack. So, I
need VLC to work with soundflower to make it work with skype and I also want
the system audio to be transmited so that I can play stuff say from safari to
someone over skype and stuff. I dont want to make tons of blocks to help me
with a huge chain of a project. If someone could please tell me how to do this
again, as I’ve had this work only once with a friend of mine guiding me through
the whole process, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Or, if this is not possible, how can the default sounds be accessed, so they

Hey Keith, glad to hav you hear on the list! I really hope you can get those

before anything else is still to attend the southern California Conservatory of
Music, or SCCM for short. I actually had a chance to do a research paper during
my senir year of high school, one of which I'm very glad about. But like you've
said, vocation rehab doesn't really care t help me with such an idea, so I'll
look around and see how far I can manage with family. Hope yo have a blessed

Some of you, I've heard on Podcasts, voice wise at least, and I've

forms, Skype being the latest method.
To start off with, I live in a small town called Prescott, located in
 the awesome state of Arizona.
I'm 24 years old-and in just s few short months, on May 23, I'll be
turning 25, so that should be pretty awesome!

I've grown up computer technology wise first starting with jAWS for
DOS in the second grade, and even what I suspect in the first grade
as an Apple two E machine, though i never used any speech technology
or screen-readers back then, and always had sighted help.
Windows, as years whent on, later became the primary platform, and for
specific screen readers like Serotek's System Access that I pay a
monthly subscription for, I'll generally use Windows (though more and
more often on a VM in VMware fusion,) for that kind of purpose.
Finally, as of June 2011 I finally had something I could sel on
BlindBargains to a Technology Specialest who wanted this Alva Braille
Display I wasn't using, and with the money I earned I was able to pick
up the MacBookPro for $1,366 on Amazon. I got my macbOok Pro, 13
 intch, Core I7, 2.7GHZ, 4GB RAM, 500GB internal hard-drive, Super DVD
drive, with Lion already the default oS as no dVD shipped, back in
 November, 08, 2011.
One of my friends who is a member of this list, was actually around
for the unboxing on Skype, a rather fun thing to experience.
At first, I thought that maybe I'd use it for a lot of the things I
kno some folks have, being a listener of both the MacCessibility
roundTablePodcast, and of the ScreenlessSwitchers podcast, just to
name a few, and of course a lot of the Mac podcasts that mike has done
on BlindCoolTech being some of the things that got my mind finally
 made up.
Now we get into some of the real background stuff that I'm sure you
 folks will be interested in.
I've been a pianest for over 11 years, I first got myf irst little
keyboard when I was like 4 or 5.
Over the years I got better stuff, until I finally was able with some
help from one of my teachers down in tucson, to get what i had most
wanted..the yamaha P85, 88 key waited-keys keyboard, with the coolest
thing that at the time I couldn't take advantage of, MIDI ports.
Finally, just a week or two back, I purchased on recommendations from
a new skype friend I've made in south Affrica, The EMU-XMIDI1X1 USB
MIDI interface cable, and began to try, and record with the already
 isntalled iLife11 GarageBand application.
I enjoy the quality of the garageBand instruments, but then I quickly
found out some things about the program.
First, I need a way to export the raw MIDI instructions as a MID (Dot
Mid) file, prefered MIDI type one, but in garageband itself after my
firend and i did some looking around, we concluded that this is not
 possible.
Sure, you can export stuff to MP3, etc, but you cannot export the
 actual MIDI data.
Also, the ability to edit the MIDI data for mistakes, etc, doesn't
seem to be possible, within the GarageBand editor is a Scrol Area
that appears to not be accessible entirely to VoiceOver.
So, I next began looking around for something else I could use that of
course has software instruments (and not cruddy ones, at that.)
I had considered logicPro, because I can actually afford that within
my extremely tight budget that I have to work with, but found a post
from this group that prompted me to subscribe Don't recall the names
of the two posters off hand..sorry about that.
But anyhow, two people posted to some thread, one poster considering
logicProNine, and the other poster a former musician I believe
explained that ProTools is far more accessible to VoiceOver, and that
Apple must reright LogicPro entirely, or something and to go with
 ProTools.
So I started looking around at ProTools on places like Sweetwater,
only to discover that basicly as things stand I'll never be able to
save up enough money, not even in a five month basis to afford
ProTools, at least not any time soon, and no, my

2012-01-10 Thread Denise Barajas
That's a lot more hassle. I would like to simply find a way to transfer these
e-mails to an external or some removable medium, convert these to whatever form
the Mac will recognize for the mail client and simply get rid of those
programs. It's either that or I have to switch out systems, as these are both

Re: The Mac and bookshare books

2011-08-30 Thread Denise Barajas
Hello Shannon, I being a Bookshare user only read these files with saphari from
time to time. When I interract with the html content, I can see the contents of
the book. But for the most part, I use my VR Stream. I usually never have seen
such an option to save such books as texts. I thought I'd try and help in this
manner by telling you my experience only. I've always been wondering about an
app that will let me read Daisy books from Bookshare for the Mac, but haven't
found or heard of much development to date. Hope this helps you with something.
Take care and God bless!

I opened an .xml file, and safari opened, but it wouldn't show me the

 Hello Everyone,

One of my favorite features in Microsoft Outlook is the ability to view
only upcoming (active) appointments in the calendar.

Apparently, Apple does not think I need this feature in the latest version
 of iCal. (grimace)

While there are certainly some very fine third-party applications that will
allow me to see only upcoming appointments, I am of the opinion that less
is better; therefore, I resist installing such applications unless
absolutely necessary. Besides, there is no guaranty that said third-party
applications, for which I may have to pay a premium, will be VoiceOver
(Apple’s software screen reading solution for the blind and low vision)
 accessible.

Enter the Mac OS X Lion Dashboard of which I am growing quite fond, and all
its marvelous, and for the most part free, widgets.

It is with such a widget that we can view only upcoming or active
 appointments.

Oh, keep in mind that iCal refers to appointments as events.

 Let’s get started.

 1.
Download and install a free Mac OS Dashboard widget called iCal Events.
 Its description is as follows:
iCal Events... Face the day! Always know what's next on your schedule using
iCal Events. iCal Events displays upcoming events from multiple iCal
calendars in a beautiful, resizable widget for Dashboard. You can see up to
two weeks of upcoming events in the same widget without needing to open
 iCal.

 2.
After installing the widget, I suggest that you close the web browser used
 to download the widget.

 3.
Now go to the Dashboard and see the widget in action. I suggest using the
key combination [Option+LeftArrow] to quickly jump to the Dashboard.
Please note that you can change the number of days shown in the widget by
 clicking on the Info button.

 Enjoy,

 Mark
