You can go to https://live.com and get a free account from Microsoft. You
can then use Word online for free. It also includes all the other apps as
well as OneDrive.

Re: VoiceOver with Google Chrome?

You can make Safari masquerade as Chrome.

Safari Preferences Advanced Tab Check the box Show develop menu bar
Then you will see a develop menu next to Bookmark.

You can now change how the internet sees your Safari Browser.
Let me know if it works.

can't navigate by heading, table, etc. it also reads every link and button as
 collapsed, which makes no sense.

I could deal with all that, but here's the big problem: I'm randomly dumped
out of the webpage content altogether, which makes this browser very
difficult to use at best. I can't find where my account information is, I
can't get to it by heading, and as I vo-arrow through the page, I could, at
any time, find myself out of the page completely and moving around the Chrome
 window.

Do I need to use Chromevox and disable vO? If so, please tell me Chromevox is

let me read account history and the like on this site?

Re: fusion drive?

2012-12-11 Thread rashantha de silva
Making sure Trim Support is enabled in your SSD will provide longer life for
the SSD.

We will be coming out with Fusion drives that you can connect to Mac Towers as
well as our QUO machines.

http://facebook.com/quocomputer

But you are correct that they have a finite cycle. That is why we are coming
out with fusion drives where the SSDs can be replaced so that your data will
remain in tact.

Some are still alive after 8 years of continuous spinning 24 7. I heard that
the flash memory though, which is also part of a fusion drive in the newer
mac machines, have a finite number of reads and writes, typically around 2 to
3 years. Is there anything clever to say about a fusion drive? Would a fusion
drive be more likely to die early than a regular hard drive? I'm wondering
weather or not to get that fusion drive. Any advice?

 Thanks in advance,

 Hi everyone!
This discussion of setting up folders reminded me of a question I've had for
a long time. Coming from the Windows world, when I'd go into my documents

in alphabetical order. It drives me crazy having the file and folder names
all mixed up together like this. Is there any way to sort things so that I
see folders first? Just curious. Thanks.

Re: Organizing files and folders

2012-08-08 Thread rashantha de silva
Hi Veronica
There is no easy way to do this. I could probably write a script to do this and
If I do I will post it.

You have to edit the InfoPlist.strings file of the Finder.app

It is located in HD System Library Core services Finder.app (show
package contents)  Resources  InfoPlist.strings

You have to edit the text Finder = Folder; (add a space)

Re: Scary MBP

Look in System Pref Energy Saver Schedule you may have turned the
scheduling system where it starts the computer up at a given time.

the MBP lights up and plays it's startup sound.

This happened to me a couple of times in a row with several hours in between
the other night. Here I am a day and a half later and going to the MBP, and
finding it, - you got it, already turned on and booted up to my desktop when
I lifted the lid. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that
I forgot that I had it plugged into the AC all that time, meaning over the
 last couple of days.

While I'm thinking of it, perhaps I should ask if leaving it plugged in does
any harm to anything. I don't think so but maybe I'm wrong about that.

Thanks for any input on this scary situation.

Re: Question about drives and time machine

2012-07-08 Thread rashantha de silva
Stacey
I assume you are using Time Machine for backups. You can store what you like on
the drive. To move your music look at iTunes prefs Advanced tab it will show
the path to your music. Just google moving my itunes library to an external
drive.

You haven't indicated how your 2tb is connected. That would be helpful.

Hope that helps a bit.

 Hi all,
I now have a drive for backing up my mac running SnowLeopard. I've backed it

This drive is a 2TB drive. Can I also store files on the drive such as music?
Do I need to do something so that my backups are in a different place?
If so what do I need to do and how do I do it?
Step by step instructions are appreciated.
 Thanks,
