Re: A Question Regarding Braille Display Proof Reading
Hi, Mark, I'm going to write to you offlist about JAWS, because I have an idea. As for the Mac, you can go to a misspelled word by using command-semicolon. I'm thinking that you could possibly map a Braille key to this keyboard command. In order to do this, you would go into the Voiceover utility with VO-f8. Find the Braille category and choose it. Select the display tab and then VO-right to "assign commands". Note your position in the table of commands and press the "add" button to add a row for the new command. Interact with this row, and press the command menu button. There are various categories here, which include the "find" submenu. VO-right into this submenu and choose "find next misspelled word." At this point, press command-b. VO will emit a series of tones, which indicate several seconds in which to add your Braille command from your display. Once you've done this, press the done button and close VO utility. I'm not able to find anything to have the display indicate a misspelled word in braille. I think it may do this on the I-devices, but not on the Mac. Anyway, I hope this is helpful. Teresa On Sep 3, 2012, at 4:47 PM, "M. A Question Regarding Braille Display Proof Reading
Hello Everyone, OK, so far I have been unable to get this to work in Windows 7 using Jaws so now I'm considering using my Mac with either Pages or Text Edit. To be honest, I don't care what I use as long as I can get the job done. My objective: I need to proof an extremely long MS Word document. All I want is for there to be some kind of indicator on my Braille display denoting a misspelled word. Can this be done using the Mac? I want to proof this document with speech turned off. So, as I read, if there is a misspelled word, there will be some kind of indicator so that when my fingers pass over the word, I'll know something, according to the spell checker, is wrong. If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated. For the record, Jaws is supposed to have a setting for this but, as yet, I have been completely unsuccessful in getting it to work Thank you all in advance, Mark -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: A Question Regarding Braille Display
According to the online help, yes, it is. I just ordered the same display and therefore haven't used it yet, so I'm crossing my fingers. :) Teresa On Jun 23, 2010, at 12:53 PM, M.
