VZ accessibility hotline was Anyone ever used a MIFI device?
Hi all, Just in case anyone else ever needs to use this number, the person I spoke with was very nice, but not very knowledgeable. Now admittedly, there’s probably less demand for info re Mifi devices, but every time I asked a question, she had to look up the answer. I would have preferred to speak to someone who actually knew how these devices work. Verizon Wireless does have an accessibility phone number. I'd contact them and see if there is a way that they can help with this. Their number is (888)262-1999. Hi Cara, Thanks so much for your messages and suggestions. I suspect you are right, that it is a security measure, but it’s one I could do without. :) I contacted my employer to see if there is a less menu driven option, but it was the end of the day, so I haven’t heard back yet. I think that if there isn’t a device I can operate without sighted assistance, I’m going to try and find another way of coping with our hopelessly inadequate ISP. Thanks again for all your help. Donna, that sounds like a nightmare! I’m not sure what the current crop of Jetpack’s do to establish a connection but I’m imagining what you’re describing with your device is really a security measure. If you still need any more details on this device, just let me know, otherwise, please feel free to disregard my notes. I did not see your later message when I sent mine. Re: Anyone ever used a MIFI device?
Hi Donna, Not sure if this will help, but I’ve used a couple of these over the last 12 years or so. I have an older Verizon Jetpack now. You should be able to log on to your device like you would with any other router, once you have its IP address. It’s been several years since I configured this one, so I’m going on memory, but I think the only thing I needed sighted assistance for was to display the device’s IP address from the menus. Once I had that, and connected it to my computer, I was able to log on to it and configure the network from Safari. If you’re just going to use the wifi functionality, it’s really a set and forget sort of affair, so once you do have it set up, you should only need to turn it on or off when you need the network. I’m only using mine specifically for its wifi network but it can do more, which is only available from the front panel, so not accessible. If you need specifics on this model, just let me know and I can follow up and also detail each step. I’ve had this one now for something like 9 years and it has been absolutely excellent. Hope this helps at least somewhat. Cheers! Re: Anyone ever used a MIFI device?
It looks like, with this particular device, in order to connect a device, you have to select it from a menu system on the display of the MIFI. I guess I was expecting to be able to connect from the device, just like I would to a wireless network. Re: Anyone ever used a MIFI device?
Hello Donna, I have used a mifi device before. I'm not sure what you're trying to do, but if all you are trying to do is to get connected with it, then there should be a button to turn it on and the name/password of the device will be displayed on the screen. You could then use a visual interpretation service to glean that information to become connected with it. It is similar to connecting to any other wifi access point it is a wifi hotspot similar to your phone with a sim card or ESIM. Anyone ever used a MIFI device?
Hi all, Due to our incredibly lousy internet service, I decided to rent a mini from my employer. They sent an Orbic Speed, and it turns out you have to use the display screen to do absolutely everything. Does anyone know if there is a wifi device that is more accessible?
