Well, you should look in your contacts also. Both contacts and recent 
recipients have a search field that should help you. I find Google contacts 
particularly cumbersome with adding items I don't want. If you have a Google 
account, I would suggest not having it sync with your computer.

Tim, thank you.  Your suggestion worked in all but one case.  I
deleted a search string containing characters of a particular address
I never want to auto-complete, and when I type the first characters
into the "to" field of a new message, the address still autocompletes.
I literally read every entry in the "Previous Recipients" window and
can't find the address which persists in autocompleting.  Any other
place I should look, please?
