If you still don’t show contents, and it does show in disk utils. Go in the
toolbar and try to unmount the flash drive.
Then remove it, reboot and then see if it shows contents.

Re: Going Insane Looking for USB Devices on My MacBook Air

2018-05-29 Thread dan d.

If it is an external drive you can see if it is attached in terminal.

When in terminal do this command:

cd /volumes

Then do:

ls

That will produce a list of all attached and internal drives,ex. your internal
hard drive by their name.

Often an external usb drive will have the name of the manufacture or a drive
series it produces..

If it appears in the list one can send files to it in terminal.

RE: Going Insane Looking for USB Devices on My MacBook Air

2018-05-29 Thread Simon Fogarty
Kristine,

What is the name or label on the USB flash drive you are using?

When your in computer that's the command shift c that alex mentioned,
Are you able to tab through the different devices
Also listen for any lists or tables that might require expansion!

But if you've not yet tried have a look at things with disk utility and see
what external devices are connected.

Hi,

Sorry, I assumed it was a storage device that wasn't being visible. My
mistake, so, my suggestion that sent you to Disk Utility can be ignored. No
worries, I'm used to being ignored :).

If that worked then your braille display is suspect. Either a

Re: Going Insane Looking for USB Devices on My MacBook Air

2018-05-28 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Just to confirm that the device is actually functioning, go to your Desktop,
then VO-m to access the menubar, right to the Go menu, down to Utilities. In
the Utilities folder, locate Disk Utility and open it. After it's open, locate
the table and interact with it. Does it show the USB connected device or
devices here? If it does, then we know that the device is being read by the
Mac, and we can go from here to determine a few other things.

Under finder, can you not find the Go menu and the computer option under that
menu?

Or just the short cuts from the finder window: shift command + c

Take a look at your Finder preferences and see if anything was

Going Insane Looking for USB Devices on My MacBook Air

2018-05-27 Thread Christine Grassman
I don’t know what is going on, all, but some time in the past couple of months
since I last used a USB device, something has conspired to make me completely
unable to locate them in order to transfer anything. I have looked everywhere:
in USB in System Monitor, in Computer, I sought the Devices sidebar, (which,
too, seems to have disappeared, along with All My Files). Everything else seems
in order: Documents, Downloads, Library, etc., but nothing I do is locating any
connections or devices. Any help would be sincerely appreciated. Did something
happen in a recent update and I am merely woefully uninformed as to whatever
changes were made that require me to conduct my actions differently in order to
do a simple transfer or saving of files? TIA.
