Thanks Dan.  This is very useful.  Now that I think about it, you see lots of 
this sort of symbolic linking in various containers normally found within the 
Library folder of each user.  Just never had a reason to dive into this sort of 
usage yet.

One possible solution is in terminal.  One can create a symbolic link for 
an application or folder to another which resides at another location. 
This is done using the "ln" command in terminal.


When the link is established the name of an app will appear in the 
applications folder but point to where it actually resides elsewhere.


When a mac call is made to the applications folder to open that application 
it doesn't know the actual location, in this case another drive.

Installing a softrware on another HD

Hello all:

My Mac mini has only 128 GB SSD,
so I need to install any software to an external HD.
When am instaliing, I found the install to, but I can not choose my External HD.
so, what can I do to achieve this?
