Re: Languages, the Orbit Reader and VoiceOver

2019-03-31 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Jonathan,

Thank you so much for this. I had removed Braille screen input from the rotor,
but when I put it back and turned to that setting in the rotor, I was able to
change both input and output to French so it should work with German for Mike.
Cheers,

Anne

Re: Languages, the Orbit Reader and VoiceOver

2019-03-30 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I am not sure about output. For input, if you add a German keyboard to your IOS
device in Language / Region settings, then when using the Braille onscreen
input a two finger swipe up changes the input. I have successfully used this to
switch between Hebrew and English. I know on the Mac, command-space can be
mapped to switch languages, I don't know if this same keyboard combination
works on IOS. If so, it would probably be space-1-7 followed by space to switch
languages.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Re: Languages, the Orbit Reader and VoiceOver

2019-03-29 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Mike,

Annoyingly, it seems that you have to switch the iPhone language to change the
Braille. I have a Focus 14 paired with my iPhone and I tried changing the
VoiceOver language and the input keyboard to French, but the only Braille
options were English language choices. I know the iPhone works fine with French
Braille so it seems the only option is to change the iPhone language for the
whole system.
To be fair, this doesn’t take very long, it’s just annoying.

Cheers,

Anne

Languages, the Orbit Reader and VoiceOver

2019-03-29 Thread Michael Busboom
Hello everyone,

I recently purchased an Orbit Reader 20 and have successfully paired it with my
iPhone. However, I have only read material in English thus far. If I switch
VO to read German, will I automatically get German Braille, or do I need to
download Braille tables from Orbit Research? Does VO automatically output in
German computer Braille when I switch to German from within the rotor options?

Thanks so much, and have a great weekend, all of you,

Mike
