That did it, Anders. Thanks! After resetting SMC, VO volume was still showing 100%, but system volume was now only 75%. Now, if I can find a EFI fix to boot my Linux USB, I'll be fully functional again! Thanks again for the assist with volume. My Airbook volume is showing 100%. Yet I was unable to hear Voice Over during my last airline flight. I tried directly on the builtin speakers after failing to hear enough volume over wired headphones. Windows 10, on the other hand, which is also present on this same machine via Bootcamp, was easily understood because it's volume output was significantly greater. This is not a great situation.
