RE: A Substitute for Alex -- Where is Eloquence?

2019-09-15 Thread Simon A Fogarty
I love eloquenmce,

I prefer to use that on my windows machine with jaws than any of theother synth
programs as I find it quicker when I'm working

Especially for things like power shell terminal type things.

But on the mac I don't think it would work,
I think it would change the mac to much,

As their voices like alex are so much nicer to work with.

I will go one better, just for fun. What happened to the dec talk voices?
Given those were first created to simulate human speech, I thought they would
be preserved on a platform somewhere.

I resonate with Mary's thoughts on eloquence, respecting that some seek the
familiar.

Given those were first created to simulate human speech, I thought they

I resonate with Mary's thoughts on eloquence, respecting that some seek

Hello Dave,

I presume you’ve tried all the other English-language voices available to
download from Apple? I can’t stand Alex but I use good old Fred most of the
time. I also use Fiona as my system voice.
In English, we have a huge choice of voices. I’m much more limited when it
comes to French voices but Thomas suits me fine.
Cheers,

Anne

If Apple ever decides to open up the system so that you can use voices that you
bought somewhere, such as if you have voice dream reader and have purchased
voices there, then maybe there will be a greater selection available for
systemwide usage. And should that happen, if somebody decided somehow legally
to Port eloquence over, then maybe. But that is a lot of if‘s. And somebody
would have to decide it was worth their time and that they could make money.
Another dubious possibility.

2019-09-14 Thread Mary Otten
