Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
I have learned that whenever a transaction is declined on my Apple Card, all I need to do is open the Wallet app, and go to my Apple Card, and then submit the transaction again, and it goes through with no problem. - Brad - On Mar 6, 2024, at 14:38, Mary Otten wrote: Interesting. I have had legitimate purchases declined by my Apple Card. I get a notification immediately telling me this was declined, did you do it? And if I go click yes, then it goes through. The damned thieves probably got my number someway somewhere but not because I lost a card or saved a card on a website or whatever. Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
ApplePay can be setup using any card, not just an Apple Card. I have both my Chase VISA and Apple Card, as well as my Chase Debit card setup with ApplePay, and all can be accessed on either my watch or iPhone. - Brad - On Mar 6, 2024, at 13:19, 'Mary Ward' via MacVisionaries wrote: I feel the need to explain this a little better. I feel confident that I always know exactly what is going on and that I have a lot of control, something I have not always felt when dealing with credit cards. I still recommend the Apple Card for VoiceOver users. It is amazingly easy. But I had the misfortunate to make an ill-advised transaction on a site that turned out to be fraudulent. I was tired and in a hurry and did not use good judgment, which is a major way that scams and fraud happen. I tried to use two credit cards because I thought I just didn’t have the right number for one of them. This is why I am comparing the two cards, Chase and Apple, because both frauds happened at the same time. Both companies were extremely courteous and professional when I spoke with them. And ultimately, I did not lose any money, so I feel confident that I can use cards from both these companies. The Apple Card in particularly sent me a notification that there was a charge, and when I looked it was a charge I had not made. The only difference was that Chase never allowed the fraudulent charge in the first place, while I actually had to contest the charges with Apple. This took a couple of weeks and was resolved quickly and painlessly. I am still happy with my Apple Card. But I do think it is relevant that their fraud protection was not quite as responsive. So I guess what I am saying is that if you think you might have been defrauded for any reason, pay attention to those notifications and take the time to go into the Wallet app and look around. If it does happen, you will not wind up losing the money. They are very professional about it. But Apple Pay and the Apple Card are the easiest and most accessible ways to pay for anything that I can think of. I hope this clears it up. > On Mar 6, 2024, at 11:12 AM, Mary Otten wrote: > > I have never had any problems with Apple Pay on my phone, which is the only > place I use it. Some of us keep confusing the Apple Card with Apple Pay. Including me, even though I technically know the difference. You can use any card with Apple Pay, or multiple cards, and you don’t kneed to have an Apple Card. Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
I received my Apple Card when I bought my M2 laptop. There's nothing different about it, other than it's slightly thicker and slightly longer and wider than other credit cards. Managing your financials in Wallet works very well. I have had no accessibility issues with that aspect. I'm actually curious about using Apple Pay out in the wild. Is phone proximity to the payment terminal sufficient for the transaction? Or should one expect to need to authenticate, perhaps with fingerprint or face recognition at some frequency? My Mini SE has fingerprint but not face recognition. Unfortunately, fingerprint recognition can become somewhat unreliable as one ages, and I resemble that remark. Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
Hi Anders, That’s interesting. Don’t know why that wouldn’t work, but then, I’m sort of new to all this. :) Apple Pay worked quite well for me yesterday, though it wasn’t an App Store transaction. Oh, that’s really great to hear! I’ve been using Venmo & PayPal, both pretty easy, but this gives another couple of options! Speaking of options, I recently got a new iPhone and put a sturdy screen protector on it. Lo & behold, it really interfered with the hand options; it took me about three weeks it wasn’t me or the phone that was having trouble getting those commands to work: it was the screen protector! Can anyone suggest a thinner screen protector? Yes, and I still recommend the Apple Card. It’s just something to be aware of. I guess that no matter how smart you think you are, you have to be paying attention all the time and never be so tired or upset that you don’t pay attention to that little voice in your heard. Anyway, even though they didn’t catch it, I never had to pay for the charges. I just would have liked for them to never have gone through int he first place. Chase has been doing credit cards longer than GS has. > On Mar 6, 2024, at 1:29 PM, 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries > wrote: > > Hi Mary, > > Thanks so much for all this information. Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
Interesting. I have had legitimate purchases declined by my Apple Card. I get a notification immediately telling me this was declined, did you do it? And if I go click yes, then it goes through. I’ve never had them not catch something. So that was very interesting. I have had fraud on two other cards. Nothing to do with Apple or my phone or anything I did. The damned thieves probably got my number someway somewhere but not because I lost a card or saved a card on a website or whatever. I never ever save credit card information anywhere Except on braille cards that I keep. Nobody reads braille except blind people. Smile. Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
Hi Mary, Thanks so much for all this information. I’ve never experienced fraud, but my husband has—a work study student stole his credit card. I get the being tired thing, and sometimes you end up having to try and make decisions not under the best of circumstances. I just hired a driver in Sicily for our trip this summer. He used a payment service that I was completely unfamiliar with, which isn’t to say they aren’t legit, but making that purchase felt risky. So, my way of saying, that tired or not, we all have those moments and experiences. I actually really like the idea that the Apple Card notifies you when a purchase is made. At least that way if there is fraud, you’re more likely to catch it quickly. In general, I don’t really like the idea of getting an additional credit card, but the instant notifications might be enough to make me reconsider that. :) Thanks again, Donna > On Mar 6, 2024, at 1:19 PM, 'Mary Ward' via MacVisionaries > wrote: > > I feel the need to explain this a little better. Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
I feel the need to explain this a little better. It is not my intention at all to trash the Apple Card. I still use it frequently and have put some major purchases on it. It is easy to set up and use. I had fraudulent attacks on two cards on the same day. It was my own fault, I was not paying attention. Anyway, the Chase bank caught it, and the charge never went through, but the charge went through on the Apple card. Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
I have never had any problems with Apple Pay on my phone, which is the only place I use it. I do use the Apple Card for a lot of things and I love it, because you immediately know when anything was charged to your card. I don’t get that same thing with any other card, so I really appreciate The immediate notification. I’ve never had any problems with it. Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
Hi! Its easy on any apple device supporting it. I use it with my Iphone and iPad mini and Apple Watch and it works fairly well. It works with my Mac but I have to use my phone to confirm things. I don’t have any Touch Bar or such on my keyboard. /A > 6 mars 2024 kl. 15:43 skrev 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries > : > > Hi all, > > Subject says it all, I’m considering one or both of these options. Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
Hi Brad, Thanks for all this, it’s very helpful. Clever idea to have one card set up on your watch, and another on your Mac. In part I’m doing this to get set up for our trip this summer, so I'm trying to figure out most secure options. I like the idea that if either my phone or watch were to be stolen, my other device would have a different card. Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
I use both Apple Pay and the Apple card. Apple Pay is easy to set up and easy to use. I'm able to use it on both my watch and my iPhone. I have said the default card to be different on each device. I use my Chase debit card as the default on my watch, and my Apple card as the default on my iPhone. This set up works very well for me. As mentioned above, I also have an Apple card and have been using it since it's initial rollout a few years ago. I really like the Apple card. One of the best features of the card is that it is all taken care of through the Wallet app on your iPhone. I use it on my phone but not on the Mac. I've had very good luck with it. All you have to do is hold the phone over the reader, and I use touch ID on my iPhone SE and the payment goes through real quick. Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
Thanks. I think I’d be more likely to use it on my phone than on my Mac, so that’s good to know. Re: Anyone else using Apple Pay or an Apple Card?
I use Apple Pay on the Phone and to some degree on the Mac. It is easy to use on the Phone, both online and in a store. > On Mar 6, 2024, at 08:43, 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries > wrote: > > Hi all, > > Subject says it all, I’m considering one or both of these options.
