Re: Rhetorical question

2019-09-15 Thread Jonathan Cohn
If DNS over HTTPS is a good idea is a debatable question. It certainly is
better for individuals who were dependent on their ISP or country to provide
DNS services. But the DNS service was designed as the first widely distributed
robust database system, with improvements in security and reliably over the
years. For example, not only are root domain servers distributed among
providers, but they have different server programs, to prevent a complete
failure. When you use DNS over HTTPS you are depending on a single source for
telling you how to get to all hosts on the network, only slightly less of an
intrusion then proxy servers are. But then, most consumers are using a DNS
server provided with their ISP and would have the same trust issues, and I
would trust the DNS over HTTPS providers more than Verizon, A.T or cable
providers to keep advertising off your system.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

RE: Rhetorical question

2019-09-14 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Note firefox is not an apple product,

It is made by a company called mazilla
It is third party and apple / mac have no control over it’s development or how
it works with voiceover,

This is a similar situation on a windows machine with jaws in that firefox is a
crap browser currently and doesn’t really do well with screen reading
technology.

So if you have issues with its accessibility you will have to take it up with
the firefox developers and that is not apple.

Maybe I am missing something. However, why are the Screen Reader Users (like
VoiceOver) left out of major security advances like Firefox’s DNS over HTTPS ,
DOH? AS a blind Canadian I am unable to use Mac’s Firefox like Mac’s Safari.
