Re: OT: looking for recommendations for good headphones
Thanks again, everyone, for your thoughts. I really wanted to go for the Senheissers, but that sale was gone by the time I tried to check out, as I said. I just found a sale on Senheisser HD 380 Pros, though, $99 instead of $199 on Amazon. I hadn't heard them mentioned, but I figured Senheisser is a good brand, and these had 4.4 out of 5 stars. They are also the ear cup design I wanted, and even have a replaceable cord. We'll see how they are once I start using them. Hi! I have a pair of beyer dynamics which i now don’t know the model of but i bought them in 208 and they still look and feel as new. I actually used them a lot as they have a very good frequency range. /A 25 nov 2014 kl. 17:13 skrev 'Chris Blouch' via MacVisionaries macvisionaries@googlegroups.com: Another thing to consider is longer-term investment. About 15 years ago I bought some nice high-end Sennheiser studio headphones after years of going through cheapie sets. Great point, I hadn't considered that. So it looks like Sony and Sennheiser are the favorites. I'm avoiding Beats, because they're just over-priced, but are there any other brands/models people like? I'm headed to Best Buy today to have a look at any demo units they have available so I can hear and feel some of these headphones. Thanks again for all the suggestions. I recommend Boes. Again, they’re expensive but I really believe it is worth the price and you’re getting what you pay for. the QC 25 are excellent and they even make bluetooth iPhone style earbuds as well. If long-term comfort is a priority, Sennheiser's higher end headphones are the way to go, their ear cushions are ridiculously soft. The MDRV6 has replaceable ear pads, but I'm not sure about the cord. I'd say the Sonys would be a good bet at that budget and for the application. I am too. I’m just gonna use EarPods, I suppose. I just have to see which provider I use for an iPhone. I’ll have $100 for Christmas. Sorry if this gets even more off topic. I’ve used a logitech usb headset for at least a year or so. Headphones always break in my hands in a matter of months, or weeks. I like my urban ears headphones that I got at the Apple Store there the over the ear type kind of like beats, but they are a little bit more retro looking, looking sort of like headphones used to look in the 1920s but way more comfortable and the bass, is freaking awesome! And they fold up too! Egun On, Lagunak! Re: OT: looking for recommendations for good headphones
Hi Alex, For audio editing, I use around-the-ear headphones, Sony MDRV6s, that sound great. They have a reputation for having a sound that doesn't mask the qualities of the original audio source. I wouldn't exactly call them mobile headphones, though they do fold up for transport or storage. For something a little lighter, I'd recommend the Sennheiser PX200, on-the-ear closed cup headphones. Sennheiser makes these with an in-line remote and microphone for use with iOS devices and Macs. Both are more towards the top of your budget but well worth it in my opinion. Re: OT: looking for recommendations for good headphones
Thanks guys. I looked on Amazon, and the Sony ones are $85, but with 4.6 out of 5 stars and nearly 1800 reviews. Given that both are within my price range, would you say the Sennheiser or Sony is better? I'd love to have the quality of the Sony pair, but I'm a bit worried that they'll bring out imperfections in game audio I don't currently hear. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I've never used a high-quality set of headphones except for stage monitoring while playing with a band. Might the Sony headphones reveal things about my audio I'd rather not know? smile I can only get one or the other. Plus, as I said, I have to be able to wear them for hours at a time with minimal discomfort.
