Re: bookmarks bar was Re: Mac Chrome: Item Chooser and Bookmark Bar

2016-02-12 Thread 'Chris Blouch' via MacVisionaries
Yup, I noticed this when I upgrade to 10.11. They changed the default to
command-option+# to activate bookmark bar items and command+# switches
tabs. I use the bookmark shortcuts all the time so in Preferences under
Tabs you can turn off "Use command 1 through command 9 to switch tabs"
which will put things back the way they were.

Hi Kevin,

Here's the story of the bookmarks bar. All browsers have your
basic favourites area. Safari goes one step further and you can
put your ten most used bookmarks on the bookmarks bar. So, you've
got the 10 icons always on the edge of the safari window, and the
nice thing about it is that command 1 through command 0 are
shortcut keys that load whichever bookmark is in that position on
the bar. The left most bookmark is command 1, and the right most
is command 0. I lived without this browsing feature for 15 years
or so before discovering it and now I am a bit annoyed that it
doesn't exist in chrome.

More to come on the item chooser.

Hi Erik,

THanks for your detailed and great feedback on Mac Chrome

I wanted to follow-up on 2 items and request more
details/steps to reproduce:
1. "Instability of the item chooser"
Could you please provide examples, steps to reproduce,
and what's "not-stable"?
2. "No bookmarks bar and associated hotkeys."
Chrome has bookmarks and hotkeys, so not sure what Safari
has that differs. Could you please provide more specific
details?
Thanks!
