Re: grade 2 Braille files
Sorry for the confusion. I do not read grade 2 files on my IPod. You can read content in contracted Braille view on the IPod, but not translated grade 2 files, i.e. brf and brl files. They will not display properly in Mac OS X or IOS 4. I only read contracted Braille files on my Braille Lite 40 notetaker, and *not* in display mode. Re: grade 2 braille files
Hi. That is the problem we have now, and I do not think there are any solutions for the problem. Apple has made their own tables, and they do not seem to work together with anything else. I also have the problem, when I will read a braille music file, which is saved in ascii or dk1252. Best regards Annie. Den Sep 9, 2011 kl. 3:30 AM skrev Eugenia Firth: Hi Guys. I promise this is my last post of the day. However, I just tried a suggestion that was given to me earlier today on this list. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Luckily, this is not something I meed right now, but I will need it if I ever have to send my PacMate in for repair. I tried turning off braille translation and putting it on uncontracted braille. It is translating into grade 1, so any braille file that is already in grade 2 will not read on the braille display properly. If anybody finds out how to read a grade 2 file on the Mac without translating it into anything else, please let me know. I am a braille proofreader, so translating a braille file is not something I usually need. I need to see a braille file exactly the way the transcriber did it, just like you would in Web braille. Re: grade 2 braille files
The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is to use Louis to back-translate grade 2 files. I haven't tried this yet, though. Re: grade 2 braille files
Hi Annie and Teresa. For the Mac, at present I can only see one solution, that Apple adds a computer braille option to VoiceOver. I made this suggestion to them by writing accessibil...@apple.com because in the future I will need to replace my PacMate which is five years old with heavy use. I could install Windows and Jaws on my Mac. Then I can run WordPad If I get desperate, I might. However, I'd rather not. Depending on how things go, I am thinking of getting a Bluetooth braille display along with an iPad. Luckily, I don't need to do that now, but it's something to think about. Re: grade 2 braille files
Hi, I will let you know now that IOS4 has the same problems with Grade 2 files. I have a Braille Lie 40 and I pretty much use them on that instead. I've been buying lots of Ibooks for IOS4, and I love reading them in grade 2 Braille on my IPod. Teresa On Sep 10, 2011, at 12:54 PM, Eugenia Firth wrote: Hi Annie and Teresa.
