Re: turning off FaceTime on the Mac?

2016-03-09 Thread Donna Goodin
Actually, I kind of like that you can turn on DND on the Mac without having it
off on the phone. If I'm on a Skype call on my Mac, my phone is probably in
another room, so I don't necessarily need DND on on the phone. It'd be nice if
that were an option you could set though, I can envision situations where I
might want it synched.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: turning off FaceTime on the Mac?

2016-03-09 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
Hi Donna,

Alas, no, it doesn’t appear that turning on DND works across all devices. Only
the watch and iPhone can stay in sync. It should be that way for everything,
though.

Glad you’ve found your solution, anyway. I’ve been contemplating turning off
FaceTime on my Mac too, but somehow I just never seem to do it, even though the
iPhone is clearly the better option for me in almost every case.

Cheers,
Sabahattin

Re: turning off FaceTime on the Mac?

2016-03-09 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi Sabahattin,

I had thought about DND, but I wasn't sure whether turning it on on my Mac
would turn it on across all devices. Do you know the answer to that?

Thanks for pointing out the option to turn off FaceTime. That's what I'd been
looking for, but I looked in Prefs rather than in the menu.
Cheers,

Re: turning off FaceTime on the Mac?

2016-03-09 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
Do Not Disturb, of course. :)

Find it in Notification Centre. The preferences are in System Preferences,
Notification Centre. Tell the system to let calls in from nobody. Now
activate DND whenever you want your peace, and disable it again when you’re
less inclined to be annoyed by the phone ringing. DND disables itself
automatically after 24 hours.

You can just turn off FaceTime entirely if you want. It’s in the FaceTime menu
when FaceTime is open. And as pointed out, you can individually disable call
forwarding from either your Mac or iPhone for any particular number or email
address associated with your account in Settings (iPhone) or Preferences (Mac).
