Nope, because they don't have a trial version for the iPad. Would love to try it, but have to wait till finances settle down a bit. Accessibility of Soulver on the Mac
Has anyone tried Soulver on the Mac using Voiceover yet? I did a search up on AppleVis, but saw no posts. Soulver is a calculator on steroids. Kind of in between a calculator and a spreadsheet app. Very versatile, and I have heard good things from sighted users. It is currently featured and is on sale, so I was thinking of snapping it up. Any comments are welcome on the app. Take care. Rodney -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Re: Accessibility of Soulver on the Mac
Hi Rodney, Soulver works well on the Mac with Voiceover. I have been using it for a couple of years now and wouldn't use another calculator app. The developers are also very responsive to feedback from VO users. When I first downloaded the iPhone version, having had much success with the Mac version, I discovered that the keypad was not VO accessible. I reported the issue and it was fixed in a future update and works beautifully now. There are a few quirky things I've noticed, such as when moving from the main text area to the results area. No matter which line you are on in the text area, you have to manually navigate with VO to get to the corresponding line in the results table, which is time consuming but a minor annoyance. I have not really had to worry about this much until recently and have not yet reported it as I only discovered it yesterday. It is also quite possible that it's me doing something wrong. I only use it for basic calculations and conversions, nothing scientific, but it works well for me. Chantelle, Thank you so much for the great write-up. I am definitely going to pick it up. I like supporting developers who listen. Take care. Soulver a new way to deal with numbers
I am posting this to both lists in the event some are on one and not the other. I don't know if any of you have ever tried/used Soulver, but it is quite neat and on sale for $11.99 in the Mac App store. You can get a 10-day trial copy at the developer's site, http://www.acqualia.com/soulver/download/. I did try the app and found it to be very accessible and just a neat app. I also think the price is not bad at all for any of the 3 versions when you consider what you can do with the app. Note the sale seems to be only good for November 24 and 25. Here is a description from the Mac app store. Soulver helps you do quick calculations and work things out. Use Soulver to play around with numbers, do back of the envelope calculations, and solve day-to-day problems. Annotate your numbers with words, so that they make sense to you. Soulver picks out the numbers and calculates your answer as you type. Do calculations over multiple lines, and refer to previous lines, much like a spreadsheet. Soulver is great for adding things up, doing all kinds of percentages easily, and converting things, like currencies. It's quicker to use than a spreadsheet, and smarter and clearer than a traditional calculator. Key Features: - A text editor for working stuff out doing quick calculations. - Use words amid your calculations so your numbers make sense - Easily do percentages ($120 - 10%, 30 as a % of 200) - See a running total of all your lines - Do easy conversions (10 USD in Euros, 22 feet in meters) - Do calculations with stocks (100 AAPL) - Refer to previous lines using tokens. - Create variables to hold frequently used numbers - All the standard mathematical functions. - Support for calculations in binary hex. - Save your work share it with the iPhone iPad versions of Soulver. - Export into PDF HTML emailing. - Support for Resume Versions on Mac OS 10.7 Lion 2010 Mac Gem - MacWorld 4/5 Mice 2010 Mac OS X Ars Design Award: Runner up “It reinvents the calculator, and in that process, I believe Acqualia have come up with a real piece of genius.” AppStorm “Without a doubt the best digital calculator on the Apple platform.” SmokingApples http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/soulver/id413965349?mt=12 THere is also an iPHone version, http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/soulver-notepad-calculator/id348142037?mt=8 on sale for $.99 and the iPad version, http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/soulver-for-ipad/id371982536?mt=8 on sale for $1.99. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group.
