Re: The Native iOS News App: It's Right There Waiting for You

2017-03-16 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Yes, for some content providers, the advertisement refreshes cause
VoiceOver to hiccup. Usually a two finger swipe down works and if not, then
a touch to find article text and then a two finger swipe down starts
reading again. Certainly not as easy to read as NFB Newsline, but then
Apple tries to give you a fair selection of different views and sources.
When I use NFB Newsline, I almost always go to the same 3 sources to read
my news.

2017-03-16 Thread Brian Hansen
Hi Mark,

How are you getting around the screen refreshes? When I open an article, and
have VO start reading, I’ll hear the sound as if a web page finishes loading
and VO stops reading. The only way to get VO to start reading again is to
start from the beginning of the article. Other than that, I agree with you.

Blessings,

Brian

The Native iOS News App: It's Right There Waiting for You

2017-03-16 Thread M. Taylor

Hello All,

Recently, in addition to my third-party news apps, I have started using the
native iOS app on my iPhone.

The app has really come a long way in terms of being VoiceOver accessible.
With the built-in notifications settings for many of its news channels, and
given how easily one can (1) save articles for later viewing and (2) easily
share articles to popular social media outlets, I am finding it remarkably
convenient and fun to use.

So, give it a try if you have not done so.

The native iOS news app, it's right there waiting for you.

Mark
